The news that Connor Goldson is out for the rest of the season just as Daizen Maeda is returning from injury hasn’t gone down very well on Follow Follow.

Two months ago, the loyal bears were discussing how best to celebrate their Quadruple success after winning the Europa League in Dublin but recently things have gone a little stale.

Benfica left many checking the cancellation policy on their hotel deals but since that rainy night at Ibrox things just haven’t been going their way, the consolation prize of the domestic treble appears in doubt after one point from six was taken away to Ross County and Dundee.

Alongside the usual injury issues with Ryan Jack and Kemar Roofe there has recently been other problems with Ridvan Yilmaz taking his time to recover from a thigh injury picked up during the March internationals.

At his media conference today, Phil Clement announced that Goldson won’t play again this season due to a media ligament tear after a team-mate fell on top of him during training with Todd Cantwell and Fabio Silva the main suspects.

It looks like Leon Balogun and John Souttar will be tasked with delivering the Treble, that sobering reality coupled with Celtic’s clearing injury list has triggered the conspiracy gene with robbo89.

Perhaps he missed the long-term injuries to Reo Hatate, Camero Carter-Vickers and Liel Abada that have hindered Celtic’s season. Or the hoops finishing the September Glasgow Derby with a back four of Tony Ralston, Gus Lagerbielke, Liam Scales and Alexandro Bernabei, holding strong against the Brains Behind Gerrard?

After a month out Maeda is back in the squad to face Hearts tomorrow, he is short of match fitness like Callum McGregor but can work towards that on the pitch against Hearts.

The good news for Robbo89 is that Goldson will be fit for pre-season training according to his manager with Ryan Jack expected to resume full training in the next 7-10 days.
