Ibrox fans go to war over £10m rated defensive duds

Fuelled by the constant speculation of the Daily Record some Ibrox fans have been whipped up into thinking that James Tavernier and Connor Goldson are about to be sold for a combined fee of at least £10m.

The logic for that fee is simple- Celtic got £25m for Jota a year ago which implies that his ‘O** F***’ rivals must have token values of £5m each.

In the real world anyone with a passing knowledge would be able to understand the difference between a 23-year-old treble winner and a pair of 30-plus serial losers who are currently being trashed at every turn by their own supporters.

The less than dynamic duo both have two years left on their contracts, deals that were agreed soon after they lost the Europa League Final to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Tavpen is about to enter his 10th year at Ibrox, most of them spent as captain but most bears are grudgingly acknowledging that their right-back is a defensive liability.

Mention of Daizen Maeda causes as much concern on message-boards as it does in the Ibrox dressing room before facing Celtic.

Goldon was signed in 2018 from Brighton without a sniff of transfer interest in him since then, available as a free agent in the summer of 2022 forcing him back to Ibrox to accept the offer that he had previously rejected.
