Sead Haksabanovic is reported to be close to joining Swedish side Malmo.
The winger joined Celtic from Rubin Kazan in August 2022 on a five year contract but has never been able to nail down a regular place.
Haksabanovic was a useful substitute under Ange Postecoglou but failed to make a favourable impression on Brendan Rodgers and spent last season on loan at Stoke City.
A move back to Sweden now looks on the cards with Fotboll Direkt reporting:
Malmo FF prepares for Champions League games. FotbollDirekt can reveal that Sead Haksabanovic is leaving Celtic and being bought out by the reigning champions. The deal is expected to become official shortly.
Celtic have close to 40 first team players currently on their books with perhaps as many as a dozen available to move on during the summer transfer window.
None of the players out on loan are likely to have played their way back into Rodgers’ plans for next season with a major trimming exercise likely.
Last season wingers Marco Tilio, Yang Hyun-Jun, Luis Palma and Nicolas Kunh were signed up as the hoops attempted to replace Jota.
It remains to be seen whether the Malmo deal is a loan or permanent move but it seems certain that Haksabanovic’s time at Celtic has come and gone.
