Cyriel Dessers has admitted that if he was a decent finisher he wouldn’t be at ‘Rangers’.

After James Tavernier the former Cremonese striker has been the most criticised player at Ibrox, recently failing to find the net in eight successive matches.

In the glorious summer of 2023 after winning the Dead Rubber Trophy Dessers was one of Micky Beale’s star signings, brought in to finish off the impressive work of Todd Cantwell and Nicky Raskin in the centre of the park.

Part of Beale’s Dream Team alongside Danilo and Sam Lammers.

Beale fell foul to the autumn curse of Ibrox managers, with no-one else fit and available new boss Phil Clement has had little option but to stick with the Nigerian Kevin Kyle.

Dessers showed his trademark lack of ability to miss two decent first half chances against Olympiakos, after netting the equaliser to secure a vital points he is back on the verge of legendary status with the media messengers.

This is life as a striker. I was watching the Champions League this week, and I see unbelievable strikers miss chances. So who am I, as Cyriel Dessers, not to miss chances? Obviously, you’re always going to miss more than you score. That’s the life of a striker. You know that there will always be a perception about that, but that’s life. If I would score three chances every game then I would probably not be at Rangers either.

Dessers turns 30 on December 8, during the summer extensive attempts failed to find him a new club leaving him at Ibrox where he is under contract until May 2027.

  • The Joker says:

As I posted yesterday the tools will be downed against Hearts and he will be gone Monday morning,Tav will get his way with the unrest in the dressing room.

Remember The CHISLER is in town this weekend and apparently was seen in the company of one Kenny Miller with talk of him replacing Kojak.

    • Jas says:

A lot of folks won’t get Kojak, probably never heard of Savalas?
I hope ? Nice miss Cyril ? remains at Sevconia.

“Dessers turns 30 on December 8…….”
FFS, was he a chimney sweep/miner from about the age of 5? (He was certainly a minor then!) 🙂
What a fukkin whingeing coupon, that looks 10 years older than it is.
Contract extension please and face-lift so he’ll no’ frighten the weans.

  • Bob (original) says:

    The headline should be:

“Dessers desperate to improve – and score ALL the chances he gets!”

But, at 30 years old, Dessers is not going to change his game now.

And, he’s not sharp enough to avoid PR own goals.

Another sevco player who must be a delight to be around on the pitch,

and in the dressing room: not. 🙂

  • the maister says:

    Yep,
    “Nice One Cyriel!”
    Ah!
