BBC Scotland have decided to keep news that the American’s are walking away from the so-called ‘Rangers takeover’ out of reach of their loyal readers.

Every morning the state broadcasters scans through commercial websites to decide which highlights that they should put on the website.

Normally it leads with good news tales like the international race to sign Hamza Igamane, Saudi clubs battling it out for James Tavernier and spin over plans to increase the capacity of Ibrox to 80,000 or at least one seat more than Celtic.

The takeover from the San Francisco 49ers has been treated lovingly since the Daily Record’s WORLD EXCLUSIVE on February 19.

On Wednesday night the Daily Mail broke the bad news that the American’s are considering walking away, alongside the return of Sandy Easdale, a decade after he was removed from the Ibrox board.

It is a huge story, the content itself but also the fact that a legacy media title has opted to go off-message. BBC Scotland just don’t want to know.

BBC Ibrox

Of course the BBC don’t want to touch bad news, instead they fake interest in St Mirren striker Toyosi Olusanya moving to Houston Dynamo, followed by a more traditional good news story about Gio Reyna moving to Ibrox from Borussia Dortmund.

After that it is the usual tittle tattle of half baked stories of little interest to anyone.

Tonight BBC Scotland will provide extensive coverage of the Europa League tie in Bilbao. Led by Kenny Macintyre, Alisdair Lamont and Jane Lewis there will also be high quality analysis from Steven Naismith, Steven Thompson, Scott Arfield, Rory Loy, Cammy Bell and for equality purposes, Hearts fan Shelley Kerr.

Joe McHugh has been Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.
When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.
Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement, cheers big man.
There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same more than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying every success for Scotland's Most Successful Club.

Their make up really is a joke. The amount of ex Ibrox men making up almost all of the presenter and “ pundits “ teams must surely now be challenging any Diversity obligations of a national broadcaster. Scott Allen, yes an ex Celt, is wheeled out as a balancing act but no disrespect to Scott Allen who is a lovely lad but he is not a Celtic legend.

Naismith failed at Hearts. Arfield won largely hee haw. Cammy Bell of the play off howlers. Andy Halliday, another lovely lad but his playing record does not qualify him to be be a pundit, analyst of anyone. Steven Thomson the wooden no personality presenter. Kenny McIntyre Tbf makes no pretence where his loyalties lie.

So ability, achievement etc in my view should preclude any of that lot from commentating on anybody but in my view we should be petitioning Ofcom and BBC Britain about the imbalance. They may boast they have all the balanced percentages of male, female, ethnicity etc but they haven’t got the balance of people representing ALL of Scotland’s main clubs
