Brendan Rodgers has admitted that there are no signings imminent at Celtic.

The hoops boss has highlighted the lack of attacking options that he has following the transfers of Nicolas Kuhn and Kyogo Furuhashi with Jota out with a long term injury but those positions remain unfulfilled.

It took until the 87th minute for Celtic to breakdown St Mirren in the opening fixture with Aberdeen on Sunday expected to provide a much tougher test.

There’s no news, no, I’ve got nothing new for you. It’s very clear what we need to improve and a lot of work going on, clearly. We’re hoping that we can conclude some deals and improve the squad.

I think the board have shown over many years, numbers of years, that the work will get done. And obviously as a group that run the club and have run it so well for so many years, they have to get what they will feel is the best value for the players.

Of course, as coaches and managers and supporters, you want the best players. But ultimately the club will be running in a way that makes sure that both the best players and the best value is there to be made.

So far in the transfer window Celtic are sitting on a surplus of around £20m with no real sign of urgency to reinvest in the team.

With Rodgers in the final year of his contract the level of transfer activity can be related to the club’s eagerness to get the former Leicester City boss to extend his stay in Glasgow.

Celtic have until August 14 to register players for their Champions League Play Off tie on August 20.

New signings can be added until 11pm the night before the first leg but it is far from ideal to put a player into his debut in such a high pressure match.

This board gives me the absolute FEAR.

£40m of Champions League money on the line, not to mention being made to look like mugs by that lot managing the tribute act.
Its only difficult to make deals when you wont pay what someone is worth.

6 days to register players prior to the biggest game of the season, and we’ve done…….nothing.

Dont give me KT – he’s Taylors replacement, but we’re still a left back short.
Dont give me Nygren – a £2m midfielder, so what?
Inamura – £1.5m stayed on the bench as we chased a goal, what does that tell you?

We sign Doohan – 3rd choice, Inamura – project, Pusey – City project (id rather put time into Murray)

    Sitting on a £20m surplus
Plus CL Money from last year
    3 kit rotations
Plus training and baseball shirts etc.

The lack of preparation, action and such shows the board are taking Brendan and the fans for absolute mugs. Absolute mugs.

Guarantee you, if the club from Ibrokes gets in to CL, they WILL strengthen whilst Pistol Pete and his cronies sell off our crown jewels to maintain the balance sheet. This could be a long season guys, strap yourself in and be ready for the protests.

Jack, can you please pop into a stationery store and ask for a box of commas and full stops.
      They’re free.
You can use as many as you like and It helps us to understand WTF you’re actually trying to say.

Great comment jimbhoy but hardly worth the bother, the comment’s utter shite once it’s been ‘deciphered’!

  • Harold Shand says:

We’ll get two or three loan deals that include

Some big name well past it , has been 35 year old striker

A decent winger whol Rodgers will then confirm in the following presser that’s been carrying an injury and won’t be ready for 2 or 3 weeks

An 18 year old English ‘ Starlet ‘ from Grimsby or some other team

  • Bob (original) says:

Here’s a scary thought: sevco qualifies for the CL – and we don’t ?! 🙁

Whatever happens now with transfers-in will now seem rushed, to meet the deadlines?

    Shambolic.

  • Dan says:

What is going on at our beloved club, something really stinks here, manager and fans being treated like fools by a few grey men in suits. I’ve had enough!!! until these charlatans are chased as far from the club as possible. Cannot take any more

Twice, in defence of the Board, he used the phrase ” best value”…. which suggests to me that the Board won’t go down the ” over-priced ” route again.
