John Hughes Jnr has apportioned 90% of the blame for Celtic’s form and performances on the board.

The blame game has been shifting towards Brendan Rodgers in the eyes of many fans as Celtic struggle to win matches or even score goals.

In mid-October Celtic have failed to score in six matches, only twice this season have they scored in the first half.

Celtic are trailing by five points in the SPFL and Europa League. Hearts away on Sunday has an ominous look about it, on Thursday there is no confidence among supporters about facing Sturm Graz.

On the park is now reflecting the disjointed, dysfunctional boardroom. It isn’t a good look. With no sign that things are about to get any better.

LAWWELL V RODGERS

Recent results are an escalation of the long running grudge between board members and Brendan Rodgers.

With the exception of Brian Rose every board member was at the club during season 2018/19.

From John McGinn onwards the manager than had just delivered a double treble was being undermined by the CEO.

Peter Lawwell wanted to regain control despite leading the club into the disastrous Ronny Deila era.

When the top tier of the Lisbon Lions Stand was closed. Matchday crowds sunk down to around 30,000. Two cup semi-finals were lost to Ross County and a 3-year-old club.

That was Lawwell’s vision for Celtic.

THE 2023 REMATCH

Now apparently taking a back-seat two men brought to the club by the Chairman have been undermining the club since Rodgers returned in June 2023.

Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay wouldn’t get anywhere near their combined £1.5m pay package at any other football club.

Their performances at the meeting with the Celtic Fans Collective meeting were horrific. They were probably privately congratulated by their boardroom colleagues.

Nicholson is CEO in title and salary only. He admits that transfer deals require boardroom approval by email.

He shrugs his shoulders when questioned about club signings.

With no sign of leadership things are only going to slide further.

Nicholson still holds onto claiming the club has world class ambitions. It’s a pity that in four years as CEO he has barely got close to competency in anything that he touches.

Who should be removed first from Celtic?

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement, cheers big man.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
