Celtic strengthen their special relationship with the Daily Record

Celtic’s special relationship with the Daily Record continues to glow. Not prosper, just grow. Desperation really.

Twenty-three years ago the ailing Glasgow publisher was in the dog house over their Thugs and Thieves headline story.

These days the relationship is stronger than ever.

A phone call from Peter Lawwell will have Keith Jackson and Hugh Keevins racing for their laptops and a virtual dictation piece being published.

FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES

On November 14 Michael Gannon got the ‘advanced talks’ scoop for the appointment of Wilfried Nancy.

After three weeks of glowing profiling the Frenchman walked into the media room at Lennoxtown with the Record in the front row.

In tandem with the obedient coverage of Nancy the Record has the green light to demonise the Celtic support.

Billy Gaddi took up that challenge with passion above and beyond the call.

On Friday he had the story of the blade wielding moron published on-line. Instantly it was trashed. The blade was part of the high-viz Police uniform.

Amateur Internet Bampots solved that mystery in minutes. The Daily Record published it with going back to correct.

Not only that but they followed it up with a full page story in Saturday’s print edition!

Daily Record

Such is their enthusiasm to put the boot into Celtic fans that the Record hasn’t apologised over even corrected the fiction above.

THEY NEVER STOP

Other media partners have ran with the same story based on a pointy finger. Nothing more. They can do so with no repercussions.

Despite the best efforts on social media and shared by Celtic fan media mud sticks. Since December 3 Celtic have put access to fan media outlets ‘under review’. Everyone knows what that means- banned.

In December 2020 Celtic opened a Managerial Review, three months later they announced that Neil Lennon was the best possible manager.

Fan media won’t be back.

The Record? Absolutely. The best seats, pre-match, post match and half time snacks. Access to interview Nancy and James Forrest, content for a day or two.

Then Gannon gets to use Celtic Park as a back drop to join Hotline Live- the desperate effort from the Record to reach the You Tube audience.

Despite the support of Celtic circulation of the Record is dropping 20% year on year. Finishing 2025 with 37,000 No voters parting with their cash every morning. January always sees a sharper drop in sales among ageing readers.

Over to Gannon at Celtic Park- 17 minutes.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

It is reflective of The Celtic Board and the company itself as their MO. Old men in Grey Suits. Going to their “traditional Media Partner” after all it was good enough for the Kelly’s and the Whites.
    Celtic is Grace Brothers.

Nicholson has proven time and again he has no clue about Celtic and our supporters. Just like Lawwell who professes to “love Celtic” before him. A pair of clowns with Nicholson even using Lawwell-speak about “world class” etc.

We must keep the pressure on him and now Wilson to get them TF out of CP. And McKay.

They (now Nicholson, Jamieson and Wilson as Lawwell’s rightly been chased) feed tit-bits to 3 titles that nearly all Celtic supporters detest. All 3 are overtly anti-Celtic yet those clowns on our board treat them like they should our supporters. Anyway those 3 titles, just like more board members, will soon be redundant and not a second too soon.

The most difficult piece of shit to move will likely be DD and/or DD junior. (Dross Desmond) But, if we remain focussed, Celtic supporters united can shift ANYTHING.

The thing is Joe the record (which has no morals) are more than happy to go with disgusting stories like the one about a Celtic fan with a knife for 2 reasons 1. It demonises Celtic fans and 2. Who cares if it’s pure pish or they know people who normally wouldn’t buy that rag will say oh hang on ill buy that and see what it’s all about, job done, and who cares if it’s a load of crap we’re not interested in journalism must sell papers or am redundant end of.
