During the first half of Celtic’s 2-1 win over Dundee Sky Sports shared a little known statistic.
Soon after Tomas Cvancara had clipped the post with a shot the SPFL’s premier broadcaster produced yet another table.
Normally these sort of stats are quite predictable. The top teams will have the most early goals, the most late goals, the most points recovered from being behind.
Clearly Sky Sports are getting heavier and heavier with stats, some of them more useful than others.
At Dens Park Ian Crocker could hardly contain himself when he announced that it was 20 years since Celtic had last conceded a goal in seven successive SPFL matches.
Fortunately tucked in that run there was a clean sheet in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox.
Cvancara’s effort off the post was the 26th time this season that Celtic have hit the woodwork!
No-one else comes close to that stat. League leaders Hearts have hit the woodwork 15 times, next up is Falkirk on 12.
That’s an incredible stat that flashed up during the game. A combination of bad luck and poor finishing. If five of those go in, where are we in the league? Most games there’s a goal in it. pic.twitter.com/zjOxra90tJ

CELTIC- HAVING A SEASON LIKE NO OTHER!
It is a fairly deep and off beat stat but it does highlight the freaky nature of Celtic’s season.
A season of so many stats, few of them welcomed.
Eight defeats in 32 matches is unprecedented for a club that can win the title by winning their last six matches.
Especially one where strikers struggle to score goals.
Cvancara has two goals in the SPFL Premiership, matchwinner Kelechi Iheanacho has three with Johnny Kenny on four.
Daizen Maeda has seven SPFL goals but they’ve mostly come from playing on the left wing. Maeda last scored on January 10.
Fortunately Ben Nygren has scored 15 with Yang Hyun-jun taking his tally to seven with the opener yesterday against Dundee.
In the opening match of the SPFL season Celtic hit the woodwork four times against St Mirren. Next week they host the Paisley side in the final pre-split match.
