John GuidettiJohn Guidetti was on the scoresheet as Sweden opened their Euro u-21 campaign with a 2-1 win over Italy.

The Italian’s took the lead with a penalty from Domenico Berardi just before the half hour mark but 11 minutes after the restart Guidetti equalised from close range after the Italian’s failed to clear a corner.

Sweden had been reduced to ten men at the penalty award when Alexander Milosevic was deemed to have denied a goal scoring opportunity.

Guidetti was one of six players booked in the match with the Italian’s reduced to ten men in the 80th minute when Stefan Sturaro.

With five minutes left to play the Swedes completed a famous comeback when Isaac Kiese Thelin scored from the penalty spot. In their next match Sweden take on England on Sunday.

Guidetti has still to decide where he will play his football next season after a mixed season on loan at Celtic.

The striker made an impressive start to his hoops career but struggled to maintain that form once the winter months set in.

After Celtic’s winter break in Gran Canaria Leigh Griffiths emerged as Ronny Deila’s first choice striker with most hoops supporters growing tired of Guidetti’s ‘contract talks’.

Moves to Feyenoord and Sporting Lisbon have been talked up before falling by the wayside but a good tournament in the Czech Republic will keep his name in the headlines as he looks to embark on his post Celtic career.

In tonight’s other match at the competition Portugal face England.
