Daniel Majstorovic speaks out on Celtic move

|

Swedish giant Daniel Majstorovic has promised to answer Neil Lennon’s defensive prayers.

The 33-year-old put in a typically commanding display as Sweden eased Scotland aside in midweek and is looking forward to installing some composure and leadership to Celtic’s leaky defence.

He said: “Celtic wanted someone to take control at the back and they see me as a player who can do that.

“The dialogue I’ve had with the club tells me they have been searching for a player to control things in the defence so it feels great they see me as that man.”

Majstorovic will leave AEK Athens on a free transfer to join Celtic with the Greek club a victim of the countries economic difficulties.

Johan Mjallby has been the driving force behind the deal which is as good an endorsement as any Celtic defender could get.

Majstorovic added: “We have talked in recent days and it feels very positive for me.

“The economic situation in Greece is tough. There was not really any talk that something was about to happen but when this came up it was a solution which suited both parties.”

I’d be a liar if I said I knew a lot about him…but…it could be an excellent signing for us ….he looks the part .and he’s free….could be agreat piece of business.
    Hope so…’mon the ‘Tic.

  • Jonjo says:

Big, strong, doesn’t take prisoners, aye… he’ll do for us.

  • Joe McHugh says:

He seems to fit the job description Mike.

He appears big, brave, commanding and that good old fashioned phrase no-nonsense.

I like defenders that can defend, keep it simple and remember that their job is to stop goals not create attacks or ping 40 yard cross-field passes.

  • Mike Bhoyle says:

    Couldn’t agree more Joe……
but he’ll be in good company if he can’t ping a 40 yard pass…something the squad needs to work on …passing….still..onwards and upwards.
    ‘Mon the ‘Tic..

Lennon has done really well picking up 3 international players for no transfer fee. The only blot on his signing copy book so far is Mulgrew. Lets hope we sign Izaguirre soon.

  • OldRossCo says:

I wish everyone would get off Mulgrews back

He is clearly struggling with the pressure and is not for me a first team pick, but if we are on top of teams, his delivery could be very useful

I hope we get a first choice left back soon, so that he can settle away from the spotlight and be brought on later to show his use in what he was most likely signed for in the first place

    Not that anyone asked

    Anyway…
    Hail, hail

The teams starting to come together. I agree about getting off Mulgrews back, he may not be an asset in Europe but domestically he’ll be a good squad. player. I’ve watched a bit of Majstorovic on the internet since we were linked with him and I think he’ll be a good signing (reminds me of Reiper).

Izaguirre will be a great addition but I still think we need a creative midfielder. Brown always seems to disappoint me I think he’s capable of far more but he needs to start showing it!! I was impressed by Ki @ World Cup and think he should get his chance.
