Youths draw at Preston

|

Celtic’s u-19 youth side continued their pre-season build up with a 0-0 draw yesterday away to Preston.

Stevie Frail’s side have had an extensive build up to the new season, which kicks-off at home to Hamilton Accies on August 21, against a mixture of English and continental sides.

Speaking after the Preston match the hoops coach said: “It was disappointing not to score but we never created enough chances.

“There was a lot to be pleased about in the display, Preston are a strong side and of a good standard.

“They provided us with a good test. At this stage in the build up it’s still all about fitness and the players all got another 90 minutes under their belt.

“We’ve got a full week of training now and that’s something that we’re looking forward to.

“Next Saturday we’ve got a match against a Partick Thistle XI then we’ll be ready to go again in the SPL.”
