The deluded world of DJ Ewan Cameron

|

It’s little wonder that the Greater Manchester Police are going to incredible lengths for next week’s Manchester United-Rangers clash when apologists like Ewan Cameron of Real Radio are getting the excuses in early for a MINORITY of Rangers fans.

MINORITY seems to be a favourite word of Gordon Strachan’s least favourite DJ as he uses it repeatedly through an article defending the troubles that Rangers fans have been involved in over recent years.

The constant use of the word MINORITY almost had me wondering if I had picked up the meaning of that word wrongly. I was sure that the word meant less than half, Cameron’s constant use of the word would suggest some other meaning.

Less than half of 1,000 rioting supporters is a lot of trouble however cute you decide to use the word MINORITY.

Self declared Hearts fan Cameron is either a very dedicated researcher or has been spoon fed quotes and facts from a Rangers supporting friend, since his show often doubled up as the broadcasting arm of the Rangers Supporters Trust it’s quite possible that someone else has done the google searching for his offering.

The fact that he listed four separate occasions where a MINORITY of Rangers fans caused trouble leading to fines from UEFA or in the case of the 2008 UEFA Cup Final worldwide condemnation should perhaps act as a hint to a common denominator in the trail of wreckage which culminated in last weeks jail sentences for a MINORITY of Rangers fans who were in Manchester.

Judge Andrew Blake described the events surrounding the 2008 UEFA Cup Final as ‘the worst night of violence and destruction suffered by Manchester city centre since the blitz .’

The damage that night was also done by a MINORITY of German bombers but for those on the receiving end the suffering is just as devastating.

While thousands of Rangers fans were causing carnage in Manchester a MINORITY of supporters were watching a live beamback of the match at Ibrox.

The beamback was apparently the most troublesome game of the season with lots of boozed up neds watching the action for free and over 20 arrests made. Again involving a MINORITY of supporters.

Cameron claims: “Is there a media agenda against the club? In my opinion the answer to that question is an overwhelming YES. I won’t name names, but there are a few who are obsessed with all things Rangers and are just waiting for an excuse to put the boot in.”

The English media that covered the trouble in Manchester, just like the Spanish media coverage of Vilareal and Osasuna is highly unlikely to be anti-Rangers, it’s just another story, they point their cameras, record things and move on to something else the next day.

Like every club Rangers have a MINORITY of supporters that they would rather keep away from the glare and attention of the media. Celtic also have that problem.

Burying heads in the sand and blaming the authorities/heavy handed policing/inadequate stewarding/poor organisation/a lack of toilets etc etc etc for widespread scenes of violence involving in some cases hundreds of supporters is not on.

Motherwell and Liverpool supporters both made peaceful visits to the Steaua Stadium in Bucharest last season yet when Rangers visited a MINORITY of supporters broke seats and hurled them at the police.

There is a significant number of people who attach themselves to Rangers, especially for European games, who feel that they are above the laws of the land and are entitled to special treatment.

With each passing incident the attraction of travelling with Rangers increases for supporters more interested in trouble than team tactics.

The forthcoming Champions League campaign is fraught with difficulties with trips to England, Spain and Turkey looming- a potential security nightmare.

Although Cameron is regarded as little more than a wind up merchant his platform can be dangerous with the message of ‘You’ve done nothing wrong lads’ coming through loud and clear in his article and on air.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, that’s the beauty of the internet and democracy at large but with it comes responsibility.

MINORITIES can be big numbers, and dangerous. A MINORITY of people voted for a Conservative government, a minority of Scots voted for the SNP to be in power at Holyrood.

The MAJORITY of Rangers fans who don’t get into bother are probably cringing at Cameron’s thoughts. If it wasn’t for the troublesome MINORITY they’d be able to enjoy a day out in Manchester next week and look forward to trips to Spain and Valencia without fears of inadequate stewarding and heavy handed policing spoiling their visits.

Hopefully the troublesome MINORITY of Rangers supporters will be absent from Champions League travels this season and allow Cameron and his ilk to concentrate on matters on the pitch.

Celtic without Jock Stein?

This creep cameron is Hun through and through,He calls himself a Hearts Fan but listening to his rants you would think he supports the Rankers,I stopped listening to the creep two seasons ago,But this rant does not surprise me……what does surprise me is other Celtic Fans can sit through his pish as he has no comedy value and is a nasty piece of work.
    Hail Hail

  • This man, I use the word man in it’s loosest of term, ok, this snot-eating festering scab faced whelk breathes air that should be reserved for decent worthwhile human beings.

As Gazman said how any fan with a brain cell that it is working order can listen to his inane uninformed drivel is beyond me. Problem is he is a moron. Scotland is full of morons.

If George Osborne wants to wipe billions off the welfare state then all he has to do find out who listens to the Real Radio Phone In, get them all in a field then get them to feed on pastries laced MRSA super bug.

Then have a mass burning of the remains to Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5.

    Great post.

So from the comments so far Cameron is a “snot-eating festering scab faced whelk, and a creep “!

I couldn’t argue with any of the sentiments expressed.

  • I forgot about the McKenna incident.

The producer, Michelle?, anyway, lets not beat about the semantics concerning her name, she left to do the Breakfast show after Ewan was caught using her felt tips to colour in his Power Ranger book.

She soon returned though as he promised her a High School Musical annual.

The girls in the office listen to Real. I moan about it all the time. I tell them that I’m not a pre-menstrual middle aged women, addicted to Bacardi Breezers and wearing pink cowboy hats on nights out.

The Phone In is football for idiots. Join the dots to get to a point. They would be as well broadcasting 2 hours of someone farting down a mircophone. That would impress me more.

In my line of work I have to visit many works and factorys in the west of scotland.

Having to listen to that Steve McKenna made my blood boil. This (cough) man should have been removed from the airways for good after that disgusting remark about one of Scotland’s Greatest Legends….There is No excuse for that..

Ask yourselfs this…If a radio dj made a Filthy disgusting Lie about The late Davie Cooper or about the poor victims of the Ibrox disaster do you think it would be passed of as a “JOKE”????

    No I didnt think so.
    Thats why im paranoid

  • chaz says:
