James Forrest is about to resume full training after being out for over two months with a nightmare ankle injury.

The 19-year-old made a flying start to the season but hasn’t kicked a ball since the 2-0 win over Hearts on September 11.

A troublesome ankle injury has held the winger back but the Scotland u-21 cap is confident that he’ll soon be back in action.

Forrest told Channel 67: “I’ve been running over the last three or four weeks- hopefully I can kick on now and not get any reaction.

“I’ve been pain-free for the last three weeks, I had a wee setback last week but the plan is to resume training at some stage next week.

“A few seasons ago I was out for seven months after a groin operation- that was murder- but I got back and that’s what I’m looking for again.

“I’ve got to do what the physios tell me but if you know that your ankle isn’t getting better it’s sometimes hard. Whatever I’m told I have to listen to.

“The Sunday after the Hearts game I knew that my ankle wasn’t right. I had a scan on the Tuesday, it felt better and I was told that I’d be back within a week but it’s just dragged on and on into a bad injury.

“I was told that it was nothing serious but it’s dragged on which has made things worse.

“It’s good when the fans ask about me but it also makes things worse because I’m dieing to get back. Supporters keep saying that they want you back and that can make you feel bad as well.”
