Kilmarnock-Celtic match postponed

|

Celtic’s away match at Kilmarnock on January 29 has been postponed due to the Co-Operative Cup semi-final with Aberdeen taking place that day.

In a bid to restore some prestige to the tournament this season’s semi-finals will take place at the weekend with Rangers playing Motherwell the day after the Celtic-Aberdeen match.

Both matches will be played at Hampden.

The postponement of an away match at Kilmarnock won’t put out too many supporters with the weekend semi-final date more convenient for long distance supporters.

This season is the last in which the Co-Operative will sponsor the competition with the Scottish Football League likely to struggle to find a replacement sponsor.

The Celtic-Aberdeen match will not be televised live with the BBC deciding to screen the Rangers-Motherwell match the following day.

No date has yet been set for the re-arranged Kilmarnock-Celtic match.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.
