Spartak Moscow must overcome FC Basel followed by Anderlecht or Ajax in their bid to reach the Europa League final in Dublin.

Aiden McGeady’s side will travel to Switzerland for the first leg on February 17 with the return match taking place the following week before the start of the Russian league season.

Like Spartak, Basel dropped out of the Champions League finishing third in Group E behind Roma and Bayern Munich.

The Swiss side picked up 6 points thanks to winning away to Roma and at home to CFR Cluj.

Spartak will be allowed to play the return leg in their own Luzhniki Stadium after escaping with a suspended ban after crowd trouble in their final Champions League match with Zilina.

That match was delayed for 20 minutes after Spartak fans threw fireworks and flares onto the pitch.

Before today’s Europa League draw UEFA issued a deferred a one-match stadium closure sanction for a two-year probationary period and fined the club €75,000.

Irish residents can now apply on-line for tickets to the final with a ballot being held after the January 13 closing date.

The final will be played at the Dublin Arena on May 18.

In other ties in the Europa League Liverpool will face Sparta Prague, Manchester City will play Aris Thessalonika of Greece and Sporting Lisbon have been drawn against Rangers.
