Kenny Miller blames Paolo di Canio for Fiorentina u-turn

|

KENNY MILLER CELTIC NEWSKenny Miller believes that Paolo di Canio could have put the boot into a move to Fiorentina.

The Scotland striker has signed a lucrative deal with Bursaspor of Turkey after seeing a move to Serie A fall through.

Di Canio was amazed to see Miller linked with a move to Italy and wasn’t slow to offer advise to Fiorentina.

He said: “Saying Fiorentina are trying to solve their attacking problems with Kenny Miller is an exaggeration. If the plan is to play 4-3-3, I don’t know why they are going for him.

“He lacks the tactical discipline needed to survive in the Italian game. People are puzzled. Miller is expected to settle straight into our league which is a competition far removed from where he plays now.”

Despite signing a £50,000/week deal with Bursaspor Miller couldn’t hide his disappointment at Fiornentina abruptly losing interest.

He admitted: “We were so close and at the time it was so disappointing when it collapsed. It was devastating to be honest.

“Something happened and the deal hit the skids, but I have no idea what. Paolo di Canio didn’t do me any favours with his comments but I like to think that didn’t end it.

“If a deal collapsed every time someone said something negative there would be no transfers but at one point I thought,‘that’s it, I’m going to Florence’. It looked decided I was going there but they pulled out.”

Rangers will receive a fee of around £350,000 for their top scorer with Miller revealing that a new deal to stay on at Ibrox was never likely.

He added: “I just don’t think it’s right for me to be labelled a money grabber just because I have been offered a better contract somewhere.

“Should I just sign for Rangers again, even though the contract is worth 30 or 40 per cent less than my current one?

“Or should I think about my family and providing for them?

“Football is a short career, remember. Listen, it doesn’t bother me what people think but I see this as an opportunity. I’m here to be successful and win the league.”

  • If “Rangers” receive a fee for their ex player signing for Bursapor, will the fee go towards paying off the multiple debts of “oldco” or does the Govan firm do some walking away and the money goes to “Newco” who have no connection (or do they??) with Oldco or KM…yeah you’re quite right , I AM confused, aren’t you??
