Reports of Roy Keane leaving Ipswich

|

Roy Keane Celtic newsReports from Ipswich claim that the club has parted company with Roy Keane.

Speculation has been rife about the future of the former Celtic midfielder with Ipswich heading towards the relegation zone after winning just one one of their last nine league matches which included a 4-1 defeat at rivals Norwich City.

Whether Keane has resigned or been sacked is unclear with no official word coming out from the club to confirm or deny the stories.

Wealthy Ipswich owner Marcus Evans had been expected to bankroll a promotion push by Keane but that hasn’t materialised.

Keane had been in talks with former international team-mates Andy O’Brien and Kevin Kilbane about going on loan to Portman Road but was unable to match the terms on offer elsewhere.

On Sunday Ipswich travel to Chelsea in the FA Cup followed by the home leg of their Carling Cup semi-final with Arsenal.

It seems certain that Keane won’t be involved for those matches with loan defender Darren O’Dea expected to return to Celtic.
