John Kennedy Celtic news

Celtic coasted to a 4-1 win over Finn Harps today in the first event of the John Kennedy Testimonial.

Second half goals from Efrain Juarez, Daryl Murphy, James Forrest and Graham Carey gave the Celtic XI a win over the Donegal outfit managed by former Celtic youth team keeper James Gallagher.

The match provided some valuable match time for local heroes Niall McGinn and Paddy McCourt and a taste of the big time for youth team regulars Matty Hughes and Callum Bagshaw.

Hughes played in central defence alongside Glenn Loovens with Bagshaw partnered in midfield by Graham Carey with McGinn and McCourt given wide roles.

After a goal-less first half Juarez put Celtic in front in with a tap in after a McCourt effort came off the post with Murphy doubling the lead with a 54th minute header.

Forrest was next on the scoresheet after being put through one on one with the home keeper before Carey completed the visitors scoring from a Ryan Conroy cross.

With a five minutes left to play Keith McGowan pulled a goal back for the home team.

Celtic: Cervi (Feely); Juarez, Hughes (Toshney), Loovens, Conroy; McGinn, Bagshaw (Lowdon), McCourt (Brennan); Forrest, Murphy
