Sven-Goran Eriksson takes former Celt on loan

Diomansy Kamara Celtic newsFormer Celt Diomansy Kamara has joined Leicester City on loan until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old is currently on International duty with Senegal but will join up with Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side for the April 2 visit to Middlesbrough.

Kamara made 10 appearances for Celtic on loan from Fulham last season but has barely featured for Mark Hughes’ side since the turn of the year despite scoring an FA Cup hat-trick against Peterbrough in January.

Speaking to the Leicester website Kamara is clearly unhappy about the way that his Fulham career came to an end.

“The gaffer tried not to play me because I was at the end of my contract,” he claimed.

“At Fulham I was the second best goalscorer when I left, but the manager did not want to play me. It was his choice.”

“I’m so happy to be here. It is a massive club with a good manager. When he called me I was so pleased. I think I can do something for this club.

“I have to play good football and score goals now that I am here.”

Leicester boss Eriksson added: “Diomansy is a quality striker and will be a great addition to our team.

“He brings with him pace, good technical ability and Premier League quality. I am sure he will settle in well and be an exciting player for the club.”

Meanwhile there was disappointment for former Celt Marc Crosas today when Volga lost 1-0 away to Spartak Moscow.

A 50th minute goal from Welliton separated the side’s with Aiden McGeady missing the match through suspension.
