Efrain Juarez makes international return

Efrain Juarez Celtic newsEfrain Juarez has been recalled to the Mexican national squad for the first time in six months.

The Celtic midfielder was banned alongside Arsenal’s Carlos Vela after a breach of discipline in September following a friendly with Columbia.

Mexico have two games lined up during the international break against Paraguay on Friday and Venezuala on Monday and have based themselves in San Diego..

Both matches will be played in the United States with the Paraguay match being hosted in Oakland before returning to San Diego to play Venezuala.

Juarez flew to the Mexican’s training base with the UK based players which included Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican’s are in the United States to prepare for their defence of the Gold Cup where they have been drawn alongside Costa Rica, El Salvador and Cuba in Group A. The competition begins on June 5 with the final being played on June 25.

Juarez won’t be the only Celtic player involved in the tournament with Emilio Izaguirre’s Honduras drawn in Group B with Guatemala, Jamaica and Grenada.

The remaining group consists of the USA, Canada, Panama and Guadeloupe.
