Celtic's title challenge heads to Kilwinning

|

Steve Frail Celtic newsCeltic take their title challenge to Ayrshire today, facing Kilmarnock at the Kilwinning Sports Centre at 1pm.

Stevie Frail’s side suffered the frustration of having Saturday’s match at Inverness postponed due to the weather but remain in pole position to retain the title.

Hearts moved to the top of the table on Friday with a 4-1 win over Rangers at Murray Park. That put the jambos four points ahead of Celtic but with three games in hand Frail’s squad have their destiny in their own hands.

Celtic have still to play Hearts and Rangers this month, as well as the final of the SFA Youth Cup at Hampden, with coach Frail refusing to look ahead.

“I know it’s cliched but in this game you can’t look further than the next match,” the hoops coach admitted.

“If we win our games we’ll win the league but everything is focussed on the Kilmarnock match.

“On Saturday everyone was disappointed when the match at Inverness was called off but there’s nothing that we can do about it

“We had the boys in on Sunday for training and they were looking sharp and eager.

“Every team makes it difficult for us and Kilmarnock will be no different, we’ll have to be on top of our game to take three points.”

On Saturday Celtic face Hamilton at Linlithgow with an 11am kick off before next Tuesday’s crunch match with Rangers at Murray Park, kick-off 1pm.

This afternoon Rangers travel to face St Mirren with Hearts heading north to play Inverness Caley Thistle.

Tonight at Lennoxtown Celtic’s u-17’s complete their Glasgow Cup campaign against Clyde having already qualified for the final against Rangers.
