Former Celtic youth team skipper Matty Hughes has become the latest footballer to join twitter.
Hughes led Celtic to back to back doubles but with no reserve league to develop in was released at the end of the season and signed for ambitious Conference side Fleetwood Town.
Two of Hughes´ former team-mates, Tony Watt and Greig Spence, are daily tweeters showing that there is littele to fear about social media when used correctly.
During the close season Spence has worried over his rapidly receeding hairline whilst Watt was delighted to sit and pass his driving test!
Although he has left Scotland after a three year stint at Celtic Hughes will spend his pre-season at Stirling Univercity as Fleetwood attempt to reach the Football League after losing out to Wimbledon in the play-off semi final.
Speaking after signing for Fleetwood he said: “This is a club going `places and I want to help them into the Football League.
“The conference is really League Three. Almost all of the teams are full time and they´ve shown in the cup that they are a match for clubs from League One and League two. Whoever gets promoted invariably does well in the Football League.
“I could have gone to a club in a higher league but the set up and challenge here suits me and Fleetwood will go higher. The stadium is very impressive and I´ve got a manager that I want to work with who´ll give me an opportunity to play first team football.”
