KENNY MILLER CELTIC NEWSGordon Smith has defended Rangers failed bid to resign Kenny Miller and distanced himself from the negotiations with Bursanspor.

The former SFA Chief was brought in during the summer with the task of negotiating transfer business believed to be one of his main tasks.

So far Rangers have suffered a succession of rejections in the transfer market with Miller expected to join Cardiff City after Bursanspor angrily dismissed a bid of £350,000 for the Scotland striker.

Responding to Bursanspor’s claims Smith told The Sun: “This from a club who kept on bidding for Steven Whittaker when we kept telling them he wasn’t for sale.

“We offered to pay Bursaspor what they paid us, which we felt was fair. We were willing to give them their money back.

“They had the player for six months when he obviously wasn’t playing for Rangers. I wasn’t involved in the discussions but from our point of view it was fair.”

Miller is believed to be in Cardiff finalising an £800,000 deal to join the Welsh side after failing to settle in Turkey.

Bursanspor director Erkan Kamat said: “The policy of Rangers is not good. I don’t like it. It is a ridiculously low offer.

“As far as we are concerned, Kenny Miller has been sold to Cardiff City. He is going to be their player and he is not going to Rangers. We are in a very bad position now. We have a Europa League match next week, Kenny is going and we need another striker.”

It’s at the point now where the Gers fans are realising they are being duped, now they will probably sign a £500 k player with the Charlie Adam money, that will have the Angry Mob ecstatic and hugely relieved for another week or 2 until they finally realise they were duped again.

Then comes the rage, spite, bitterness and vindictiveness, all aimed at Celtic, then they turn on McCoist……

What? They sold Miller mid season for 350k and their supporters still don’t think they are in crisis?

A fair offer if all things were equal. Fact is miller was nearing the end of his contract with rangers. They could have got him on a pre contract. Now only six months into his contract with bursa he is worth considerably more. Inexperience at all levels of RFC can only be good for us
