Gerard Butler Celtic newsHolywood star Gerard Butler’s signed Celtic shirt has left Henrik Larsson and the hoops legends trailing in his wake.

Butler’s signed shirt is being auctioned off by Oxfam in aid of their East Africa Famine Appeal and quickly attracted over 70 bids and is currently sitting at £1,050.

The matchball, donated by hat-trick hero Larsson, and signed by his Celtic team-mates is currently standing at £501 with frantic bidding expected over the weekend before the auction closes on Sunday.

Larsson’s shirt is second to Butler’s in the bidding and is standing at £700 having attracted 14 bids.

Tuesday night’s match raised £300,000 for the Oxfam appeal with further money to come from television rights and other donations surrounding the match.

Head of Oxfam Scotland, Judith Robertson, said: “I want to thank everyone who played in, organised, or simply came along to watch the match. It was a fantastic night’s entertainment, and a reminder of the real difference football can make in the world.

“People have been really generous, and I’m delighted to say we’ve raised £300,000 so far. That money will make a real difference to families living in East Africa, providing the kind of things that it is difficult sometimes to imagine ever living without: water, food and shelter.”
