The Premiership kicks off tomorrow with man of many clubs Robbie Keane on the outside looking in.
Keane is one of the Premiership’s leading all-time scorers but transfer speculation has been thin on the ground as far as the former Celtic striker is concerned.
Two league goals on loan at West Ham last season wasn’t enough to keep the Hammers up that would have made his transfer permanent.
At international level Keane became the record goalscorer from the British Isles with a double for Ireland away to Macedonia in June but despite the lack of transfer interest the 31-year-old is relaxed about his situation.
“There are a couple of weeks left in the transfer window and it’s likely that I will be going,” he confirmed. “At the moment that’s where it is and I can’t do anything, there is a lot of speculation, we’ll see what happens.
“I’m not being disrespectful at all to the Championship but if I get an offer to play in the Premier League I am obviously going to take that.
“The clubs have to agree a fee, but there has been no talk about a Championship club so that’s where we stand at the moment.
“I haven’t turned down anything. There are a few people talking to the club but that’s all I can say for now.
“I’m happy to go anywhere, I don’t know where this story about me wanted to stay in London comes from, for me it’s about playing regular football, if that’s outside London I’m not bothered.”
