Fraser Forster Celtic newsNewcastle have been linked with a £3m move for West Ham keeper Robert Green opening the door for Fraser Forster to return to Celtic.

Neil Lennon has had one bid turned down for the keeper but hasn’t given up hope of bringing Forster back to Parkhead.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew was keen to have a look at all of his keepers in pre-season but is now interested in taking Green to St James Park.

Pardew paid Norwich £2m for Green in 2006 with the Hammers looking to cut their weage bill after being relegated from the Premiership.

Forster joined Celtic on a season long loan a year ago whilst Chris Hughton was in charge of Newcastle.

Celtic have been linked with a number of keepers over the summer but it is believed that Forster has always been Lennon’s first choice.

Ideally Lennon would like a deal to be completed by the Europa League deadline of August 8 with the draw for that competition taking place tomorrow.

Hilarious! there is no way that Newcastle would pay money for Green when they have Forster, Krull and Steve Harper. Celtic will have to write a large cheque if they want Forster.

well whoever we get we have to get them in by weekend cause we’ll be lucky to keep a clean sheet in a launderette with the two muppets we got just now

And another thing this transfer windows just been a waste of time mean we really only brought in one player Lenny must’ve known he’d struggle to get Forster back so keeper should’ve been vital instead of faffing about with Bellamy just hope things don’t get too bad cause could put last seasons good work to waste

I’ve said it before, Forster has not been tested in Europe or anywhere else for us bar the Scottish game. We hold him in very high regard, well ahead of Zaluska for some reason. But Forster is no angel to the silly mistake. He should have done better for all 3 goals in the video above.

I think Zaluska would be just as adequate a No.1 as Forster. He has made a SMALL number of mistakes in his appearances for us over the past 2 seasons. But given game time, I think his confidence would grow, and he would improve. He had a fine pre-season (apart from 1 mistake against Inter, [even though the ball did take a funny little bounce]), confident catches under high ball, and some fantastic saves including the game against Inter.

Going into the new season, I would feel just as happy with Zaluska in goal as Forster. For the time being anyway! give him a chance at least!

I don’t think that there is a clamour from supporters for the signing of Forster but it does look like he’s the keeper that Lenny really wants.

I think Zaluska is decent back up but never a first choice Celtic keeper.

well unless there’s a mad rush think we’re outta europe and struggle in league again

    FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anybody else think that the boys upstairs in the posh seats decided weeks ago not to spend any more money ?

I’m really worried that the wheels are going to come off again this season. Where’s the plan ? Where’s the common sense ? NL’s got one arm tied behind his back already.

The squads a shambles. It’s massive, but we,ve only got about seven players that you could call automatic first choices.

For example, we’ve got about eight center-halfs, but how many of them can NL trust 100% in important games. One or two, maybe ? And the keeper situation is even worse.

We punted Stipe and “killer”, when they must have been worth more time. We put one of our potentially best signings, Juarez, out on lone, meanwhile we’re still hanging on to a lot of players that are never going to improve enough to play regularly.

    I just dont get it.

  • Stevie says:

    I’d go with Zaluska.

Don’t need any more players on loan we should be able to buy our own.

Foster one day maybe good keeper but if Lenny wants him FFS buy him.

  • Stephen says:

Lawell strategy: wait until the league is up and running and we are out of europe, then sign some keeper on a free or a loan

sad days for scottish football – it’s in the knackers yard!

LATEST FROM LAWELL “Bellamy is an option we are pursuing” looooooooooooolllllllll. Aye ok big man.

Let’s face up to reality. just about every signing we make is from the english championship,so don’t expect the european run that lawell is hoping for. We’re messing about here bring to find a keeper on the cheap.

The ticket prices at parkhead are dearer than ever, and they’re not spending a penny. And there’s about 10 players on the scrapheap they need to get shot of. Last count we had 7 centre halfs.

I’m convinced that you are some sort of dadaist art joke, taking the mental paranoid Celtic fan stereotype and turning it up to eleven.

My friends and I do enjoy your insane ramblings though so keep it up!!!!!
