Niall McGinn Brentford news Nial McGinn scored his first goal for Brentford as the Bees enjoyed a 5-0 derby win over Leyton Orient.

The win lifts Uwe Rossler’s side into third place in League One but despite the scoreline the former Manchester City striker wasn’t entirely happy with his side’s performance.

He told the club website: “I thought we were very fortunate to go in at half time 1-0 ahead thanks to a fantastic individual goal from Niall McGinn, who was outstanding today.

“The second goal settled our nerves and you saw how well we can play football after that.

“I am always realistic and I hope the supporters realise we can’t expect that every week.”

“We wanted to be in the top ten after the first four games and are in the top six.”

McGinn was the only loan Celt in action today with Leeds United, featuring Darren O’Dea, facing West Ham tomorrow.

Josh Thomson was an unused substitute in Peterborough’s 7-1 win over Ipswich Town while Efrain Juarez found his debut for Real Zaragoza postponed due to a players strike which wiped out the first weekend of the La Liga season.
