Neil Lennon Celtic newsNeil Lennon took time off from preparing for Celtic’s match with Dundee United to discuss his playing comeback on his twitter account.

The Celtic boss was given a heroes reception when he appeared at half-time in the number 18 shirt and played his part as the Celtic Legends fought back from 2-1 down to win 5-2.

Although he failed to score the goal that the fans would have loved @officialneil made a big impression on his son Gallagher who watched his dad playing for the first time.

Lennon tweeted: “My boy had never seen me play before so he was so excited when I came on and then inconsolable when me and henrik came off #poorweesoul #

“It brought back so many great personal memories…me dolph and tommo want the current crop to feel that experience now.”

Assistant manager Johan Dolph Mjallby can expect a fine for the mouthful of abuse aimed at the linesmen who wrongly flagged for offside after the Swede’d brilliantly timed overlap down the right flank.

Lennon added: “Am fining dolph for kicking the ball away in a bad mood #disciplinebigman #.

“Meant to add thanks to all the Man Utd players and celebs for turning up and makin a great contribution.

“Was delighted with the reception for Martin and Gordon at games end. #twogreatmen #”

Such a great night @ the legends game. It’s just what Celtic is all about.

Seeing some of the 2003 squad again was amazing. Lubo and Henrik and Petta and Sutton and Johan etc could probably still play in the SPL.

I don’t think that’s a poor reflection on the SPL – just an indication of how good they were as players.

Really was fantastic, an annual game or even a 4 team “Legends” tournament would be great. HH

Brilliant night ! The fans were great, the players and celebrities were great, and I could never praise JK’s generosity highly enough. He’s one in a million.
