Sion Celtic newsSion look like being without six summer signings for next week’s Europa League tie with Celtic as their dispute with the Swiss authorities deepens.

Celtic’s Europa League opponents have been unable to settle a registration dispute with the Swiss Football League with the signing deadline for the play-off round to the Europa League passing last night.

Last Friday Sion were given permission to use the players by a Swiss court but within an hour of Saturday’s match kicking-off against Basel they were informed by SMS from the Swiss FL that the players were ineligable.

Sion coach Laurent Roussey had to hastily replace Pascal Feindouno and Mario Mutsch in his side to face Basel with club President Christian Constantin set to launch a massive claim against the Swiss Football League.

He said: “This week, I will notify every member of the SFL my request for 20 million Swiss francs (£16m).

They have to pay the case and the consequences of their reckless acts. And if it continues at this rate, I’ll let you calculate the damage if a place in the Champions League eluded us late in the season.

“It would no longer 20 million but 40 million francs, or even triple, that the SFL should pay us.”
