Craig Thomson will referee Saturday’s Celtic v Dundee United match with Euan Norris in the middle for the lunch-time Inverness Caley Thistle v Rangers match.
Good news for all SPL teams is that Willie Collum remains out in Columbia at the World u-20 World Cup hopefully improving his positional sense.
During the summer Thomson became full-time referee recruitment manager for the SFA after a typically chequered season that saw him order Neil Lennon to the stand during a Hearts v Celtic match and overturn a Rangers penalty against Celtic when Nikica Jelavic dived following a Thomas Rogne challenge.
James Bee and Gary Cheyne will assist Thomson on Saturday with Barry Cook as fourth official.

With a bit of luck we don’t see Mr Gollum, sorry Collum for some time yet.
Hope the new SFA are keeping a very close watch on Craig Thomson because he aint no Celtic fan.
As you say Willie Collum is rank ,Wonder how the police investigations going you know the one when poor Willie Collum was getting threats over the phone after his spotting a penalty through the back of his head.
Surely not more made up Scottish media pish.
If Collum was in charge against Aberdeen we would have drawn the game, the quality tackle by Commons to steal the ball from Foster would have been called as a foul and Commons would probably been booked, it’s in tight games like the one the weekend that scottish most referees are most prone to “honest mistakes”, the scottish media would have come out saying we didn’t take our chances and that’s why we dropped points.
