Morten Rasmussen Sivasspor newsMorten Rasmussen scored a double today as Sivasspor beat Bursanspor 3-0 to move in to sixth place in the league.

The goals completed a remarkable week for the Dane who played in goal last week against Eski?ehirspor, scored the winner in the midweek win away to Ankaragücü then netted twice against Bursanspor.

Former England keeper Scott Carson was in goals for Bursanspor but couldn’t prevent the home side from scoring three after the interval with Rasmussen scoring in the 59th and 75th minute.

Following his former team-mate Jos Hooivekd tweeted: “YES he did it again, Morten Rasmussen found the net again! That’s exactly how we know him, #greatgoalscorer.”

In Serie A Udinese drew 0-0 away to Cagliari keeping them joint top of the table with Juventus and well clear of the Milan giants after four matches.

  • Celtic Daft says:

    Rasmussen = 3 goals last 2 games

    SamarASS = 3 GOALS LAST 39

    Lennon making bad decisions.

  • RUDEBHOY says:

    Seriously when did we last score a headed goal?

    Rangers are scoring simple corner-head-goals every week , and i cant remember when we even looked a threat at a set piece?

    I counted 7 players 6ft or in our team recently, and not one can head a ball!

  • OldRossCo says:

    If things were as simple as that, I would agree, but they aren’t….

    • Celtic Daft says:

      as simple as what?

      • OldRossCo says:

        Rasmussen’s movement, work-rate, dribbling and ability to hold the ball up are not as good as Samaras’s. We have better finishers in Hooper and Stokes . Samaras offers something the other 2 don’t. Rasmussen doesn’t. We had the same conversation last year. He scored 2 goals in his first 2 games for Mainz and was then dropped because he had ‘problems in the transition to our style of play’ because ‘He’s a penalty-box striker’ ie Offers nothing else to the team a la Kris Boyd. Managers don’t want that in their team and Lennon who watches these boys train every week has to have full control of selection, tactics and playing style which all have to compliment each other. To say it is just bad decision making is just simplifying it to the nonsensical

      It really is that simple. Stats speaking for themselves I’m afraid. Would easily have Rasmussen in the team as a back-up striker rather than samaras.

  • john says:

    He seems to start well wherever he goes. I think I remember he had an excellent start at Mainz but was soon out of favour. Needs to be watched. He may still have a job to do at Celtic Park. The same with Hooiveld. i don’t see him as being any worse than are currently playing at the back at Celtic just now.

  • mick f says:

    IF Rasmussen is a penalty box striker who won’t work as hard as Sammy & even if you agree with that we NEED a player who’s going to stay in the box & win headers allowing Hopper to drift around. we are a goal down who would you want to see come on? Sammy only use is to take the ball for a run towards the corner flag & waste a bit of time.

    • OldRossCo says:

      And what if we are winning and need somebody to hold the ball up/knock a ball down/keep the opposition defence from committing men forward? Again there are other and better finishers in the team. Bangura can head the ball. Lennon has every right to decide that Samaras has attributes which he can utilise and Rasmussen does not offer anything different or offer enough

  • He never really got a chance and I often wonder why.

    Was he just not Lenny’s cup of tea or did he not pull his weight in training?

    We’ll probably never know for sure, but I’ve seen some of our first choice players train in the past and they don’t exactly bust a gut…
