Sion news Sion have warned UEFA that they won’t accept the verdict of the Court of Arbitration Sport (CAS) if they rule against the Swiss club.

The long drawn out dispute over Sion breeching a signing ban has overshadowed Celtic’s Europa League campaign after the Swiss side fielded five banned players in the play-off round against Celtic.

Yesterday UEFA issued a statement hoping that the Lausanne based CAS ruling would bring the episode to an end.

The UEFA statement read: “As the UEFA disciplinary bodies have twice ruled on this case, the UEFA Executive Committee unanimously decided to await the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision on the merits of the case.

“UEFA wishes to state strongly that, of course, it respects the law and that national law itself recognises the competence of the disciplinary structures that are specific to sport. This includes the role of the CAS in Lausanne, whose independence has been recognised by the Tribunal Federal of Switzerland. In this specific case, UEFA is constitutionally unable to apply to the letter of the super provisional and provisional measures decided by the civil court.

“UEFA noted that the Tribunal Cantonal de Vaud also recognises the role of the CAS as the competent entity able to decide on the merits of such a case, and gave FC Sion/OLA 60 days to initiate proceedings to do so.

In a common spirit of resolving this matter in the interests of the competition as a whole, UEFA has therefore filed a request for a decision on the merits of the case to the CAS on 26 September asking for an accelerated procedure. UEFA sincerely hopes that FC Sion/OLA will also now make its best efforts to obtain a fast decision in front of the CAS.

“Provided it does so, the CAS is perfectly able to take a decision in time, allowing everyone to respect the sporting and civil laws. Should the CAS decide, on the merits, to reintegrate FC Sion/OLA then UEFA will of course follow this ruling immediately, as its Statutes allow.”

Sion however are determined to stand by a local court ruling despite UEFA and FIFA rules clearly stating that disputes cann’t be settled in civil court.

Alexander Zen-Ruffinen, lawyer FC Sion told Le Matin newspaper: “We do not believe that the independence of the CAS in relation to the UEFA and FIFA,

“We do everything we can to escape this instance. UEFA, she does everything to get us there. “

hopefully Sion keep tryin to bully their way in, maybe they’ll get hit with a heavy fine or banned for a few years

a club that acts like this should just be fined so heavily that theyre made bankrupt, they dont deserve to be a football club if they dont respect the rules everyone follows, and then tried to get their “buddies” from Switzerland to fight their battles, the real reason that a swiss court finds them in favour every time is just because theyre scared it will affect the rest of their teams in europe (there was talk of all swiss teams in europa and champions league being banned too), and when each court is heard they do it without even inviting a defense from uefa. cheating scoundrels.

I’m starting to find it funny now. It’s surely quite simple, UEFA’s competition and UEFA’s rules! That should be the end of it.
I truly hope the UEFA fine Sion for breaching another rule by going to a civil court.
However, what happens if they are allowed back in? Do they take our place? Do then just tag along and play catch up?
