Davie Moyes Celtic newsDavie Moyes has hit out at the disgusting treatment that Stevie Kean has received from supporters of Blackburn Rovers.

The Everton boss left Ewood Park at half-time during the 2-1 defeat from Bolton on Tuesday night after listening to 45 minutes of abuse aimed at Kean.

Blackburn fans seem more interested in barracking their manager than getting behind their players with Moyes dismayed by what he witnessed on Tuesday night.

“I walked out at half-time,” the Everton boss admitted. “I couldn’t believe the criticism they gave their manager.

“If they had supported the team as well as they had shouted at their manager I think the team might have got a result in the game. The Bolton supporters really got behind their manager and their team if Blackburn supporters had done that it might have helped them.

“I am a football manager and it could quite easily happen to me. I was disgusted with how football supporters treated Steve. The only way I could show it was by leaving at half-time.”

Moyes has had his own critics to deal with at Goodison this season but was taken aback by the venom aimed at Kean.

Blackburn are now owned by the Venky poultry firm in India with Moyes believing that it’s time they showed face to help Kean out.

The Everton boss added: “Steve stood on the touchline the whole night and took the barracking, never hid from it.

“He was big enough to stand there and take it and that says a lot about him.

“Sometimes on these occasions the owners need to step forward and be seen – come out and tell people exactly what is happening so the supporters are aware of it.”

    A couple of questions.

    1) Why did Kean bring his son to a press conference the other day when he knew that questions would be asked about the future of his job?
    2) Why did he bring his family along to a football match where he a) knew he was not welcome by the fans b) new there would be some kind of protest if the match (highly likely and did) not go well?
    3) Why are Owen Coyle, Alan Pardew, David Moyes and Harry Rednapp so in favour of Kean remaining Blackburn Rovers manager?

    Answers:
1 & 2) To gain sympathy and attempt to take pressure off his own shoulders = Selfish.
As i said above. He knew the atmosphere at the stadium would be hostile toward him regardless of his ‘minority’ comments a few weeks back, the majority if not all want him gone.

Personally i think it was pretty sick of him to introduce his son (at the press conference) and the rest of his family (at the match) to that kind of environment.

    3) Owen Coyle (fellow Scot and represented by the same agent as Kean apparently), Pardew (Rovers are playing Newcastle twice in the coming months), Moyes (fellow Scott and shock horror playing Everton in the coming months) and Rednapp (you guessed it playing him in the last few games of the season).

That doesn’t even go into the fact that all managers will back a manager under pressure for the sake of getting on the right side of the LMA!

The simple fact is nobody can deny that a record of 7 wins in 38 is not good enough for the Premier League and that the torment Rovers fans have been put under has driven many of them to breaking point.

For every Rovers fan at Ewood against Bolton swearing at the manager, there was another crying there eyes out.

This is the thing the media very very rarely shows. After all showing a chunky fellow shouting at someone certainly sells more then a picture of a grown man/women crying!

I appeal to the media and fans alike to put yourselves in our position and try to understand the agony we are going through.

Seriously really do it. Imagine the same is happening to your club. Owners who do not communicate with the fans or the media. Put any money in for transfers, on the contrary uses the club for their own financial gain whilst putting absolutely nothing back in to benefit the future of the club and it’s surrounding community.

Imagine you have a manager where your team has conceded 40+ goals in half as many games during the season. During the WHOLE season you have only experience 2 soletary wins one of which required 2 own goals to be scored to achieve that victory.

Imagine paying your own hard earned cash to attend games. Purchase merchandise for the season only to be rewarded with rudeness, poor games/results only for that manager to come out and put a spin on the game saying… “We played well…” (have sustained a 35% or less ball possession… had few if not none shots on target…) “We didn’t have the rub of the green…” “We are struggling with injuries…” (when he’s had a full enough complement of players…) “Referee decisions aren’t going our way…” (when stone wall penalties are given against them and yet penalty appeals he see’s everyone can’t see…) “We played well everyone can see that, but we just didn’t get what we deserved…” (deluded comments after a convincing deserved defeat due to poor tactics or squad selection) “If we play like that the rest of the season we will be fine…” (when we quite obviously haven’t been…)

“We will finish in the top 10…” (erm nope we won’t…) “Relegation… hahahaha no chance!” (likely…) “I can get us out of this…” (when he’s never been on a winning streak of more then 2 games which included a cup triumph against lower league opposition and has only won 7 games total in 38…)

Why the hell shouldn’t we protest… Seriously read my words… At your club… Wouldn’t you…

Haven’t the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle United and other teams done so before…

Never had the LMA come out in support of there managers?!

    Fair points Thomas

Bringing his son to a press conference wasn’t a clever move.

The impression given however is of a support that seems to be enjoying this campaign against Kean. It’s difficult for supporters to articulate their feelings but the real villains seem to be the club owners rather than Kean. I doubt of Alan Shearer is better prepared for the job than Kean and you are unlikely to get high calibre managers wishing to take on a job where little is known of the club owners.

Most managers sympathise with others in trouble, Blackburn will be playing most Premiership teams in the next few months so there is no significance in Moyes, Coyle and Pardew giving their views.

The club looks in a terrible state, like Bolton and Wigan Blackburn don’t have the natural resources to sustain a Premiership club and must work cleverly in the transfer market, buying and selling to stay afloat.

With owners that show little interest you could end up alongside Preston, maybe the final day win at Wolves will be the last celebration for a while.

Thanks for contributing to this article with a reasoned reply.
