Andrew Ellis Rangers NewsControversial property developer Andrew Ellis has been appointed as a non-executive director of Rangers.

Ellis has previous experience as a director of Queens Park Rangers and Northampton and was involved in a bid to buy out Sir David Murray before Whyte bought Rangers for £1 in May 2011.

Announcing the appointment tonight Whyte stated: “On behalf of the board I am pleased to welcome Andrew Ellis as a non-executive director of the Club.

“Andrew is already a director of the Rangers FC Group and his previous experience in football will be a benefit to the Club as we look to the future.”

Commenting on reports that Ellis was going to offer him a directorship as part of takeover former Rangers boss Walter Smith said: “I don’t know because in the end I’ve never spoken to the chap who has mentioned that, I don’t know.

“He can say what he likes about me but I would be obliged if he would speak to me before he mentions anything else in the newspapers again.

“I agree with Sir David Murray, if somebody is going to come in and take over the club then do so instead of talking about it in newspapers.”

Former Rangers chairman Alastair Johnston was even more blunt in his assessment of Ellis.

Johnston said: “The situation regarding Andrew Ellis and Rangers has gone on way too long- so let’s just say I am sceptical about it.

“I find it surprising and perplexing that, for someone supposedly keen to buy the club, Mr Ellis has had no contact at all with anyone from Rangers Football Club.”

Meanwhile it’s believed that West Ham United have opened negotiations to sign Nikica Jelavic.

Well I suppose they need someone to supply the “For Sale” signs.

Video Celts is the name of this site, so can you please stick to articles about Celtic please. I honestly couldn’t give a toss about Rangers or their board, players or ugly bigoted fans.

They would have been dead and buried long ago, if our board had done their jobs properly in January 2009. The lack of ambition ‘again’ in this window is real cause for concern in my opinion.

We will get a striker in before the window shuts, we have brought in a couple of youngsters and hopefully they can make an impact like Wanyama has despite his age. Also a lot of our fans are interested in what is going on over at The Govan Dungeon, sasly, for now, what happens to them affects us. Once HMRC are finished marinating Rangers and have closed the oven door that won’t be a problem anymore. Patience. HH

Why dont we just concentrate on beating them by building a better team ? We’ve added a few youngsters, something that I’m all for, but how exactly are they going to help us win the league this seaon? One of them might not even arrive until the summer.
We could have had Diawara in our team already, if PL had done his job properly for once, and the league would be all but over- whereas it could be a lottery again this year.

Stuff the taxman and stuff r******s. They’ll never be allowed to go bankrupt. Just look, for example, at the help our board has given them over the last four years. Even they’re desperate for them not to go bust.

So what if it says “videocelts”

This is by far the best blog because it does not just give us great news on Celtic everyday it also reports on other story’s in football..Scottish and English that we might not hear about anywhere else, or if we do read about it that usually means listening to one of the usual idiot’s in the press..I know where I would rather read about it.

Like the Neil Warning blaming twitter for the sack story yesterday for example. No one complained then even though that has nothing to do with Celtic.

Keep up the great work videocelts 🙂

    Hail Hail

  • Mac,You are correct –

Andrew Ellis joining rangers has nothing to do with Celtic. What they do across in the murky pond doesn’t affect us in anyway.Like a number of celtic sites nowadays, too keen to tell you about rangers troubles as they have no inside info to tell you about Celtic. The bigger ones are more guilty than others.

Celtic fans come onto Celtic sites to read & talk about Celtic.

Lets hear more about Celtic and less about that crowd, you have more interested readers.

The situation at Rangers is the biggest story in Scottish football for years. How can anyone ignore it?

What happens at Ibrox has a direct influence on what happens at Celtic Park. If The board at Celtic only thought about Celtic then we would have had better players in already. However, the board are watching, again, what is going on at Ibrox to gauge whether they will need to spend money. Could be a mistake.

Nobody can ignore the Rangers case at the moment and why would any Celtic site not comment on a dodgy geezer like Ellis being appointed to the board. Surely this is worrying for Rangers as I thought that Ellis was one of these guys that appears when the shutters are just about to go down. He may be advising Chraigy boy on how to walk away with a profit.
