Gregg Wylde Rangers newsGregg Wylde and Mervan Celik are the first playing casualties of Rangers going into administration.

Both players decided to walk away from their contracts and as current u-21 internationalists should have no problem getting themselves a club.

Celik only joined Rangers in January with Swedish side GAIS looking for compensation for developing the midfielder before he signed for Rangers.

Wylde signed a new improved Ibrox contract in September after being linked with a move to Bolton Wanderers

Earlier in his career Wylde had a spell at Celtic playing in the same underage side as James Forrest.

The loss of both players will only reduce Rangers monthly wage bill by around £50,000/month with further departures and reductions expected throughout the day.

Despite three days of talks between administrators Duff and Phelps, the playing staff and Fraser Wishart of the SPFA no agreement could be brokered.

Reports of players offering wage deferrals or across the board pay cuts were dismissed by the administrators who are charged with maintaining Rangers as a going concern.

With three separate football enquires going on into registration matters and a possible tax bill in the region of £50m looming the very future of the club is under threat.

Rangers must produce audited accounts upto September 30 before March 31 if they wish to play in Europe next season.

Ally McCoist’s side are currently sitting six three points clear of Motherwell in second place but the Ibrox boss is likely to be forced to field a virtual youth team in their next match, away to Dundee United on March 17.

Personally, I’d rather focus on us. Let the corrupt fall on their own sword.

  • JoeG says:

I’m sure with a name like “Celik” he had to be first!

  • JoeG says:

Come to think of it, Greg Wylde was an ex-Celtic youth!! No surprises there then!!

  • Pat says:

Heard earlier that Wylde was seen in the East End of Glasgow – Not a bad wee player ?

  • Ryan B says:

Greg Whylde is a decent player to be honest (i hate to say it due to his now former club!), maybe Lenny should look at cashing in on the falling from across the city. Surely the wee lad couldn’t turn down the biggest club in Scotland?

  • Still can’t understand why it is taking so long for the clear-out. Maybe there’s a sit in protest with the referees advising on strike action.

Cleaners are going to have their work cut out with the sh** that’s going to need cleaning up and the manager will create the biggest pile.

Shows how efficient D & P are that he is still there. Mind you, maybe they’re hoping the yogis will think the full team’s still in place when they see him out running (sorry sallying) round M Park.

McCoist must have forgot to tell Wylde “we don’t do walking away”!!
