Rangers players negotiate cut price transfer fees

Duff and Phelps Rangers newsIsraeli web-site One Star has claimed that all of the Rangers players that accepted pay cuts have negotiated cut-price release clauses for the summer regardless of whether the club is taken over or survives administration.

After a warning that the club may be unable to complete their fixtures’ administrators Duff and Phelps announced last Friday that they had struck a wages deal with the players to ensure no redundancies.

Top earners such as Allan McGregor, Steve Davis, Steven Naysmith and Kirk Broadfoot agreed to 75% pay cuts with other lesser paid players taking a 25% cut for the next three months.

Those deals took over a week to negotiate but weren’t without cost to the club.

Every player that has agreed to the wage cut has a written sell-on value in their contract that allows them to quit Ibrox in the summer for a knock-down fee.

Duff and Phelps are expected to begin serious negotiations today to sell the club to interested parties but it seems unlikely that there will be a rush of offers for the stricken club.

With merchandising and catering outsourced and Ticketus due the money for 25,000 season tickets for the next three seasons any new owner faces a massive task to turn Rangers into a viable business.

News that the clubs top players have effectively negotiated cut price transfers in the summer will be a further blow to any potential investor.

With most other parts of the business outsourced; the players, Ibrox Park and Murray Park are the only real assets that a new owner would acquire.

Why does everyone believe that a speculator has to run the assets as a going concern, they could easily buy it and then sell momentos from the late Rangers FC and use part of the stadium as a museum for loyal fans to visit and then sell off the rest to Tesco or the likes along with the car park and then sell the training ground to some other consortium that deals in training activities.

Sounds a better idea than taking control of a football club with £100million of debt.

    Are they dead yet

    Are they dead yet
    Are they dead?

If that is the case, I would love to buy the picture of HM The Queen from the home team’s changing room.

That would surely become the most ironic piece of football memorabilia of all time.

It’s ironic that Fat Sally said “We don’t do walking away”. It looks like everyone is RUNNING away like rats off if a sinking ship!

Broadfoot a top wage earner….surely not, if he is then no wonder they are in such financial troubles.

This paints a completely different picture to the one Rangers fans prefer, their heroes helping the club in their hour (months/years) of need by taking a paycut….instead they are already planning escape routes with wages fully paid up.

How often can they dupe their own fans…clearly more than most 🙂

Casino – Hotel – International Superstars etc etc

Shouldn’t be let behind the wheel of a car really.

There was me believing the Rankers fans who are claiming these guys had just made this unselfish gesture to save their club, loyal but only untill the summer hehe.
They’d have to PAY clubs to take most of ‘their’ squad.
