SFA football news

Ten months after taking control of Rangers the SFA have announced that Craig Whyte is not a fit and proper person to be chairman of the club!

Whyte and Rangers ignored all requests from the SFA for information on Whyte until they were forced to disclose that he had served a year ban from being a company director when they announced their unaudited six month accounts to the Stock Market last November.

Once Rangers had been placed in administration the SFA announced that an enquiry by Lord Nimmo Smith would look into the activities of the club.

The SFA have released the interim findings of the two week investigation which has uncovered a number of other allegations that Rangers will have to answer including financial records.

Both the SFA and SPL have started investigations into allegations that Rangers had issued players with side contracts with the SFA taking a step back to allow the SPL to complete their investigations into that matter.

Stewart Regan said: “I can confirm that the Scottish FA convened a Special Board Meeting at Hampden Park today to discuss the findings of the Independent Inquiry into Rangers FC, prepared by the Chair, The Right Honourable Lord William Nimmo Smith.

Principally, it is the belief of the Board, taking into account the prima facie evidence presented today, that Mr Craig Whyte is not considered to be a Fit and Proper person to hold a position within Association Football.

We will be writing to Mr Whyte in relation to those findings and shall seek a response within seven days.

The report submitted by Lord Nimmo Smith, having been considered fully by the Board, highlights a number of other potential rule breaches by the club and its owner. The report will now be used as evidence and forwarded to a Judicial Panel for consideration and determination as per the protocol.

As such, the report’s contents will not be published at this time. Nevertheless, I can confirm that the club is facing a charge of bringing the game into disrepute. Specifically, areas of potential breach to be considered by the Judicial Panel include:

·         Obligations and duties of members

·         Official return

·         Financial records

·         Division of receipts and payment of expenses (Scottish Cup)

I would like to clarify the situation relating to possible non-disclosure of payments to players, and in particular the Employee Benefit Trust. Having noted the Scottish Premier League’s intention to investigate this matter, the Board has decided to allow the SPL to complete this process, given our potential status as the appellate body. We retain our position until such time as the SPL’s investigation is concluded.”

turning the screw aint they! just wondered if the orcs stay as the current r*ngers would there be a case for the likes of celtic etc to sue r*ngers in a similar manner to Sheffield utd suing West Ham in regards to the Tevez improper registration (Sheffield won the case).

This isn’t about us. It is about how they cheated not only us. theuy cheated everyone. While part of the cynical side makes me think they are being protected, I remember that the NOW was recently brought down due to corrupt measures also, and look at how that never helped!!

I`d be very surprised if celtics legal team were`nt on possible out come of senarios re the cheats. investigating all avenue`s open to them for recompense for loss of earnings and entitlements.nationally and internationaly threw UEFA.if they get to keep the stadium and other assets name change or not.then that stadium which is the scene of the crime(s) is collateral.tho a 140 year payment plan might have to do.

Its the S.F.A that isn’t fit and proper to run Scottish football. 10 months later……?

  • Jimmy says:

They are jumping on the band wagon , they will probably hit them with a 10 point penalty which will mean nothing this year and then tell us they were hard on them when the damage is done.

Big news there then well done regan. Only one problem here, Whyte and rangers? Seems to me he was a dictator since he stepped in the door Whyte is/was rangers anyone who stood in his way or suspected his plan(whatever it is/was) were given their jotters, all the blame must lie with him.Yesterday he claims there will be no liquidation its cva all the way, then today he has two companies fighting rangers for the 3.6 mill rangers need to stave off liquidation.

Lets face it nobody knows what his game is. As for the sfa every club in the spl(especially rangers) must be looking at suing them for letting this ejit run a club and single handily do his best to destroy scottish fotball.Like it or not most rangers fans also believe the SFA to be a bunch of goats, doing nothing until they are prompted by internet forums

Them in Govan are the dregs of society.Even before all this had caught up with them, all you got was arrogance, and anti-catholic bile.By rights they dont deserve to be part of any of our football leagues. But as much as it pains me to say it,they will be allowed to stay in the SPL.Why?,because the establishment will see to it they are.

When I hear all this crapp in the press and fat sallys ranting on,about how they feel sympathy for the bigotdomes supporters … it makes me sick.
These supporters have kicked, shot, and stabbed to death Celtic supporters for wearing a Celtic top. They have caused untold damage all over Europe. This will thankfully not happen again because of the 3 year ban rule for clubs going bust, if their lucky to form a Newco.

Every club in the SPL should be looking for repayment of lost prize money due to Rangers FC cheating.

No point in deducting points this season, nor even next as they will either be in the 3rd division or disappear completely.

They stole the money from other clubs, so it’s only right they pay it ALL back + interest

  • Based on some of those findings, surely the SFA now must investigate themselves?

Big decisions for the SFA/SPL. With each passing day, and each new revelation, the likelihood of Rangers being allowed back into the SPL are lessening. I know the Doncaster’s and Regan’s want this but their is no way they can do it without there being a public outcry.
Celtic need to act but they need to do so in solidarity with the other clubs in Scotland, not unilaterally. As a previous poster points out Celtic are not the only club to have suffered. Indeed, it could be argued that the suffering of smaller clubs is greater as their fans and players had an almost once in a life-time opportunity against them in finals only to be narrowly defeated by players who should not have been in the team due to the monies spent on them being used illegally.
Celtic need to understand the importance of collective action. Overtures should be made to the other 38 clubs (?) and a plan of action decided. Allowing a debt free Rangers to walk back into the football league with hardly any meaningful punishment would be a significant blow to Scottish football. These scumbags have cheated everyone for years. Thousands of supporters would never return to a ground to pay 25 quid for a competition which is essentially rigged. I personally know Celtic supporters who say they will not follow football in the same way and with the same level of money if the Celtic board do not fight this tooth and nail.
Messrs Lawwell, Desmond and Bankier must know this and, even if eventually defeated, they must stand up for the Celtic support, and the rest of Scottish football against this injustice.
