Scott Brown newsCeltic skipper Scott Brown will be a Hibs fan for the day on Saturday when they face Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.

Brown made the move along the M8 in 2007 but has always retained a soft spot for the club that gave him his big breakthrough in the game.

Most players suffer abuse going back to their old club but the Celtic midfielder has been spared that treatment on his return to Easter Road with the banter more good natured than abusive.

Brown helped Hibs lift the 2007 League Cup with a convincing win over Kilmarnock but knows that winning Saturday’s capital clash with Hearts would put that success in the shade.

“When I was there we didn’t do too badly in the CIS Cup for a few years,” the hoops skipper recalled. “But it was always the Scottish Cup the fans wanted.

“The players all wanted it as well so hopefully it will happen this time.

“I’d prefer to be playing in the final, unfortunately it’s not to be but I’ll be supporting the other team in green and white.

“I’d love to see Hibs win it. They deserve it I think. It’s been such a long time, 110 years, and I’d really love to see them do it.

“It will be a great day and a great atmosphere no matter who wins. I’ve got a ticket and I’ll be in the Hibs end cheering.

“Loads of my pals are Hibs fans. They’re all looking forward to going to Glasgow and making a good day of it.

“If they do win then it’ll be back to Edinburgh for the open-top bus. I’ve done it before, going down Princes Street and Leith Walk, and the number of fans was frightening.

“Can you imagine how many would be out after this one!”
