Neil Doncaster SPL newsChristian Nerlinger has been named by the Rangers Tax Case as the first player to be paid through an Employee Benefit Trust.

The anonymous blog has set the pace over the last 18 months with a series of revelations concerning the ongoing crisis at Ibrox.

After a 17 day break in publishing RTC has named Nerlinger while the SPL drag their feet over undeclared payments to players.

Rangers are awaiting the outcome of the First Tier Tribunal into their use of EBT’s. The legality of how Rangers operating the scheme is up for debate but any payments to players that aren’t declared in contracts duplicated to the SFA and SPL would rule the players as ineligible.

Cutting to the heart of the matter RTC claims: “The law firm of Harper McLeod have been hired by the SPL to investigate if a prima facie case against Rangers on the dual contract issue exists. Let me help Harper McLeod out a little.

“On 28 July 2001, Rangers played Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Rangers won the game 3-0. Making his debut that day was a German who would later go on to become General Manager of Bayern Munich, Christian Nerlinger. He also scored one of the goals. That game against Aberdeen marked the first game where the EBT scheme that is the subject of the ‘Big Tax Case’ interfered with the Scottish Premier League.

“Harper McLeod should take a look at Nerlinger’s contract filed with the SFA. Next they should obtain Nerlinger’s contract documents and payment history from Rangers FC (IA)’s administrators.

“Comparing the contract to the payment history alone will expose payments of well in excess of £1 million that are not listed on his SFA-registered contract. There is your prima facie case, Mr. Doncaster.

There is no need to investigate any further to demonstrate that Rangers have a case to answer and that an independent inquiry is required.”

Wednesday promises to be a very testing time for the SFA and SPL with a BBC documentary titled: Rangers – The Men Who Sold the Jerseys.

According to the BBC trailer for the programme: “Mark Daly charts the scandal which brought Rangers FC to its knees, revealing what went on behind the scenes in the run-up to Craig Whyte’s infamous takeover.”

Earlier this year the SFA disciplined Hearts for not acting “in the utmost good faith”

I presume that the SFA therefore is obliged to act in the utmost good faith.

So given that Nerlinger played in the team that denied Copenhagen a
place in the CL do the SFA have to report to UEFA that a Scottish club fielded an ineligible player?

And will Rangers have to compensate the Danes for loss of income?

    • martin kennea says:

I think they should have to compensate ALL clubs they have conned and swindled .Even if they newco the debts should follow them.

No hiding place for Doncaster NOR Rangers FC (In Administration) – No more excuses / delays…stand up and be counted and take the appropriate action or be forever shamed.

Surely the information could be gained by simply asking some of the players at Rangers at the time. Mr. Ogilvie admits to having one surely he was not the only one.
Will the SPL/SFA have the guts to strip them of titles won during this period? I believe 2003, 2005, 2009 and 2010 titles were won by cheating.
What view do UEFA take of all this?

    • martin kennea says:

johnp you have asked the right question, although we should be DEMANDING they are stripped of all titles(tainted titles)won during this period.I would bet my bools on it they have been at other scams ( as yet undetected )before these EBTs.
