Davie Moyes Celtic newsDavie Moyes has been installed as the bookies favourite to take over from Harry Redknapp as Spurs manager.

After a dramatic 48 hours of claim and counter claim Redknapp left Spurs tonight following talks with chairman Daniel Levy. Details of his departure have still to be finalised with the League Managers Association involved in the discussions.

Redknapp had 12 months left to run on his Spurs contract and had angered Levy by discussing the situation in public claiming that the uncertainty would upset the dressing room.

Moyes has a similar contract with Everton but has an agreement with Goodison chief Bill Kenwright that he can move on if a top four club makes an offer.

The former Celtic defender celebrated 10 years in charge of Everton in March but is anxious to get a crack at silverware with the Merseyside outfit falling further and further behind the big spenders.

Moyes has been installed as 4/6 favourite for the job- with some bookies suspending betting- with Wigan boss Roberto Martinez and Rafael Benitez amongst a clutch of others priced at 5/1 to take over at White Hart Lane.

Yesterday twitter was awash with rumours that Redknapp had quit the club forcing the former West Ham and Portsmouth into issuing a denial.

Last night Redknapp said: “No, I haven’t resigned and I have no idea why it is being suggested that I have.

“This is an outrage. There is not a chance I will resign. Why should I? I have a year left on my contract.”

Redknapp recently appointed Paul Stretford as his agent heightening speculation that he may be looking for a move.

As soon as Fabio Capello left England the Spurs boss was installed as favourite to take over from the Italian but lost out to Roy Hodgson with Spurs unhappy that their bid for a Champions League place nose-dived with the speculation linking Redknapp to England.
