SFA football newsThe SFA have confirmed that they are involved in discussions to bring the SPL and SFL together.

News of the development was leaked to the BBC last Saturday with Stewart Regan noticeable by his silence in recent weeks with no comment made on Rangers being liquidated.

The absence of the Ibrox side from the SPL fixture list has created a mixture of fear and opportunity within the game with a lack of leadership coming out of Hampden where Campbell Ogilvie remains as President.

Following a week of speculation with intense lobbying to place newclub Rangers in ‘SPL2’ the SFA have tonight been drawn into making a statement.

In a joint release with the SPL and SFL it read: “All three parties have been involved in productive discussions for some time on the subject of league reconstruction.

“This culminated in a positive meeting last night, out of which the two league bodies will now engage in a wider consultation with their member clubs.

“The discussions are based on the key principles for reconstruction outlined in the Henry McLeish Review of Scottish football:

* One league body in the senior game
* Promotion/relegation play-off between SPL and SFL First Division
* Single financial distribution model
* Pyramid system, with the potential for relegation from and promotion to the fourth tier

“Further consultation will take place in the near future, with the aim of reaching a positive outcome on a new model to take Scottish football forward.”

With just six weeks to go till the start of the new SPL season it seems highly unlikely that the new format could be rushed through in time for the 2012/13 season.

The secrecy of the talks are bound to raise suspicions amongst supporters and are unlikely to encourage sponsors to be associated with legislators with no sense of responsibility or accountability.

How did we ever allow so many weak, cowardly, useless dickheads to be in charge of our football? At least sack Ogilvie, ya muppets.

  • Paulo says:

The fact that Campbell Ogilvie remains in place says it all.

    Corrupt to it’s rotten core

  • THE SECRET HANDSHAKE MOB STILL DO EVERYTHING WITHIN THERE POWERS AND PROBABLY SOME THINGS OUTSIDE THERE POWERS TO INCORPORATE ZOMBIE BIGOTS FC INTAE TOP FLIGHT FOOTBALL, ITS JUST MORE EVIDENCE THAT SCOTLAND CAN NOT BE TRUSTED TO BE AN INDEPENDENT COUNTRY, CORRUPTION IN THE SFA,SPL,SFL ARE JUST EVIDENCE THATS HOW THE SNP WOULD ACT. SCOTLANDS SHAME GOES DEEPER THAN JUST RANGERS… HAIL HAIL, GOD BLESS IE CELTIC+

    • MaxX says:

Bang on KB, although, imho, it would come across alot better if you didn’t shout!

We have a Scottish parliament shouting about independnce from Westminster, when our First Minister is either to afraid of, or is so deep in the pocket of, David Murray, that he not only condones and excuses his vile behaviour, ie; lying, cheating, stealing, fraud, conspiracy, corruption and cashing in on and encouraging sectarian racism leading to murder on the streets of the country, but actively covers it up by destroying any documentation regarding it and has the gall to declare it as ‘part of the fabric of Scottish society’!!!

Everyone should recognise and be VERY aware of what Mr Salmond considers ‘the fabric of Scottish society’ to be!

  • Charlie Magpie says:

It’s not just Scotland that is looking to see if the cheats in blue will be dropped to the bottom flight of Scottish football.

For years I have listened to the rumours about Rangers cheating their way to the top with help from the Freemason brigade, but I dismissed it as sour grapes from the Celtic mob as just banter. Not anymore!!!! Rangers and the Freemasons who protect them are bent, dishonest and corrupt.

C’mon Celtic, Dundee and Motherwell, I hope you get the justice you truly deserve when Rangers are exposed for what they really are. CHEATS!!

  • Tully says:

‘Single financial distribution model’ – I feckin don’t think so you bunch of cretins!

  • neil says:

boycott every away game next year! just spend your money at celtic Park.
I hate this bigoted wee country

    • James says:

A number of clowns in the Sfa are corrupt, yet the whole country are to blame get a grip, all other clubs apart from Kimmarnock are going to throw the book at rangers, this sort of comment is just crazy, dont tar us with the same brush as a smalll number of corrupt officials.

  • williebhoy says:

    1) There is simply not enough time to co-opt all these clubs together to form an SPL2…to enable Dodo FC to be put into

    2) Will all the current SPL clubs accept spreading the money even further by giving these other clubs a share of theirs….I seriously doubt it

    3) Time we made the decisions for the SFA….clearly they are NOT fit for purpose and the SPL should DEMAND that Doncaster & Regan step down…Ogilvie’s position Is untenable.

    4) Who has given Doncaster the power to disband the Appelate Tribunal…they were instructed by the Court of Session to find another penalty NOT be disbanded.

Share gate receipts with SPL 1 & 2…SIMPLE…Season tickets cost £ 25-50, MEMBERSHIP (Entitling owners to 5-10% discounts in Celtic shop / Online) Cost £ 300-400….Other clubs get next to nothing AND lose out on any travelling support as most fans will refuse to attend.

  • Mrhappy says:

Sorry if im being stupid here but it says that discussions
Have. Been between 3 parties, spl, sfa and. W ,hom? Surely not sevco?

    • Badbhoy McTim says:

I think they mean the SFA, SPL and SFL, though Sevco, the Referees Association and the Lodge/Masons seems just as likely.

  • Deehan1888 says:

If this goes through then Celtic really need to leave this league. Beg the English to let us into League 2 & let us prove ourselves in fair competition. I would be happy to watch Celtic climb their way to the Championship then hopefully the Premiership. We can’t continue playing under this inept & corrupt association!

@MrHappy – the third party is the SFL

  • Boycotting has been poo-hooed by a lot of people but I ask what alternative is there in order to awaken the cheats and blowhards that run our game to the fact that there is fan-power and we will use it? The threat must be real for the deterrent to work.

The problem is, we have just found allies in almost every other support. Boycotts to me need to be organised as inclusive so that we are not standing alone on this.

Perhaps the first step is to bombard UEFA and FIFA as soon as the current tournament ends. The situation must be put their hands if we are to see some sort of just resolution. Mind you, there are wheels within wheels in these two as well.

Davis Starkey said “Scotland has moved on from a deeply backward Presbyterian horror of the early 17th century”

If this happens, I’m not so sure

  • dombhoy67 says:

Quite simple really. Elect joint broad supporters committee. Organise all outraged supporters boycott season tickets; cancel all ESPN/SKY deals for start of next season; march to Hampden July 4th and demand Reagan, Doncaster and Ogilvie resign at once; call upon UEFA/FIFA to investigate SFA,SPL,SFL as a matter of urgency. Write letters of complaint to club chairmen demanding sporting integrity and compliance of rules with NO exceptions. The Scottish football supporters are now the ONLY guardians of sporting integrity left . . .but we are many and they are few. We have the power within us to do what is right and necessary.

  • Mrhappy says:

Cheers mate! If league reconstruction takees eplace to allow servco to prosper, celtic should endeavour to win
All 3 trophies next season then refuse to go up and lift
Them! Imagine the publicity and headlines it would create!

  • Sal says:

    Keighley Bhoy,
“Cannot be trusted to be an independent country ” !!!
Ffs, we’re NOT an independent country right now and all this is happening. Could the SFA, SPL, Bigots fc Succulent lamb mob et all
    actually be any worse ?
More likely a completely fresh start for Scotland would be the time to cleanse Scotland of the rotten, stinking, corrupt bigoted lot of them. All the crap that has gone on for decades and is going on right now is while we are in their glorious ‘ union ‘.

  • Thai Tim says:

To avoid a criminal offence taking place, Mr Green, The Scottish Media, The SFA and SPL should be aware of the following:

The law prohibits the re-use of a name of a company previously gone into liquidation, (section 216 of the Insolvency Act 1986). A prohibited name is a name by which the liquidated company was known at any time in the 12 months immediately before liquidation: whether this is a registered name at Companies House, or its trading name, or any name so similar to its registered or trading name as to suggest an association with the liquidated company. It is a criminal offence to contravene section 216 of the Insolvency Act. Anyone contravening the Act may be prosecuted by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills and could go to prison if convicted. In addition, under section 217 of the Act, you could be made personally liable for the debts incurred during the time that you were involved in managing a business using a prohibited name, even if it was a limited company. This could happen whether you are prosecuted under section 216 of the Act or not.

Ally McCoist should be aware of the following:

Even if you are not contravening Section 216 of the Act, you will be personally responsible for the debts of the company if you are involved in managing a business and you act on instructions from someone you know who is contravening Section 216. This is because you are helping someone to commit a criminal offence by contravening Section 216.

It is and has been for many years blatantly obvious that we SHOULD have just ONE governing body running football in this small country. But how anyone can think that it should be the SFA who have led the game into such a mess is beyond belief.

The idea that all monies should be shared equally is a complete non-starter unless someone can convince me that e.g. Partick Thistle have the exact same weekly expenses as Celtic…therefore they do NOT deserve an equal share of money raised.

Clubs MUST stay within their own budgets or face being removed from the league for financial impropriety due to their own negligence, not expect others to pull them out.

In other countries they have a TOP senior league and the rest are basically semi-pro / amateur which lets face it most of those lower league clubs are little more than junior level if that.

It’s time to streamline Scottish senior football, 40 clubs for a country our size is a joke. The Brechins, Stranraers etc wouldn’t win the junior leagues in their region so why kid on they are professionals and entitled to vote / demand shares of limited resources.

  • paranoidandroid says:

What’s happening in Scottish football at the moment is the very definition of madness: The supposed custodians of the game are risking it’s total destruction by rushing through ill-prepared changes and by risking the wrath of the World and European governing bodies by ignoring the rules- TO SAVE A TEAM THAT’S ALREADY DEAD.

Rangers are already dead. They died of corruption and cheating. The investigations into this corruption and cheating have only just begun. And it’s quite possible that a few others at the top of Scottish football will be buried alongside the dead team. So no amount of corruption, cheating or rule changing is going to bring back the dead team or help the guilty still to be brought to justice.

Bending over backwards to try to save the dead and the guilty is only going to destroy what’s left of Scottish football.

Scottish football RIP. Killed by the Scottish establishment.

  • Andybhoy says:

Ok if it is all about the greater good of Scottish football lets do it, but with the following conditions:

    1. Newclub starts at the BOTTOM of the new pyramid system.

    2. Campbell Ogilvie, Neil Doncaster and Stewart Regan resign from their positions with immediate effect.

    3. The SFA as an organisation are disbanded and replaced with a new independent body with NO ties to the previous regime and a clear, concise set of rules, guidelines and sanctions which are followed to the letter regardless of which club or individual they are dealing with.

    4. The current rules regarding gate money stay in place.

Feel free to add your own conditions but don’t expect any of these arrogant chancers to take any notice because the truth is this is not about the greater good of Scottish football as the SFA, SPL, and the Scottish press are all trying to claim but all about creating a situation where Zombie Rangers can get back to the top flight as soon as possible but allows those who run our game to appear as if they have handed down an appropriate punishment.

Change is good when it is all about the improvement of the game but when it is about the tearing down of the existing structure just to rush through an escape plan for a club that has systematically cheated for over a decade then it is nothing but CORRUPTION, pure and simple.

Fans of all clubs must unite and make a stand against this because if we don’t then we are all part of the corruption.

    HAIL HAIL.

  • johnbhoy says:

I’ve said this before but once again for those that missed it. Celtic probably wont be allowed to join any English league but there’s nothing stopping us from buying a small(er) club and gradually transforming it to an English Celtic. We could have a 5 year plan to rename it Something Celtic and hopefully relocate back to Celtic park.

In the meantime we can keep playing in the SPL using this in the first instance as a feeder club.

My favourite would be Carlisle for obvious geographical reasons but am open to other clubs; maybe some would actually welcome the investment and world interest that’d be shown.

The Scottish game looks finished; lets get ahead of it.

  • ygtgo says:

This will lead to greater powers for the corrupt SFA, the fans will be totally ignored, if this was to work, we would need to know the names of every member who sits on every committee, in what capacity he has a right to sit on the committee, what has he done to promote the game in Scotland, ( and not just because he has a right, due to any team or area which has been in existance since 1880 ) and especially the names of ALL members who go on ‘ jollies ‘ abroad at the expense of the fans ….
