George Peat Celtic newsBungling former SFA President George Peat has sent a message of sympathy to Stewart Regan.

The SFA chief has come under increasing criticism for his failure to deal with the Sevco issue and predicting a long slow lingering death for the game that he is well paid to promote.

Peat was a director at Airdrieonions until shortly before they were liquidated before joining the board at Stenhousemuir in order to retain his place on the board of the SFA.

During his time as President of the SFA the rulebook was taken apart by the late Paul McBride while the former Stenhousemuir supremo described Neil Lennon as increasingly irritating amongst other ill-placed comments.

Discussing the shambles that Regan has presided over since Rangers went into liquidation Peat told the Daily Mail: “I believe Stewart has been unfairly criticised.

“Someone has to take the lead and that’s what he did. He is not going to please everybody.

“All he has done is to spell out the road the game could go down and what will happen.

“Perhaps it didn’t make good reading for some but, in all of it, somebody has to explain the facts of the situation, whether they are pretty or not.

“He might have gone too far in some people’s eyes but this is a situation that has far-reaching consequences.”

Peat added: “I am happy to be outside of it all now, it is sad what has happened at Rangers.

“After the McLeish report came out, we were all working together on the way forward . When I left the SFA, the relationship between the SPL and the SFL was very good.

“People were looking at things from the same point of view. Nobody could foresee what was going to happen.

“I hope that what has happened at Rangers hasn’t blown it all apart but, from an administration point of view, Scottish football has hit a brick wall.”

The sympathy of Peat is unlikely to help Regan’s situation with straight talking Raith Rovers chairman Turnbull Hutton saying what many clubs feel.

Their positions are becoming untenable,” the Raith chief stated discussing Regan and Neil Doncaster. I don’t know who will wield the axe or whether they will choose to fall on their swords, but the pair of them have presided over an unholy mess.

“Rangers went into administration in February, it’s July and people are still asking what is going to happen. The honest answer ahead of Friday’s SFL meeting is I haven’t a bloody clue and neither does anyone else.”

“it is sad what has happened to Rangers”.

Typical comment from an establishment figure (of fun). Why all the sympathy for a club who have cheated, lied and colluded with others to destroy any concept of fair play in our game. This was done under his watch, remember.

The liquidated ones have yet to be punished for their crimes….that is sad.

    bulls**t

Peat’s right: “Someone has to take the lead…”.
Unfortunately, we’re still waiting for that leader.

Peat might also think Regan’s doing a good job, but that’s only because he’s judging him by his own standards. In the SFA’s whole history of useless leaders, Peat was the most useless ever, so far.

Anyone who wonders why Scottish Football is in such a poor state need only look at those in charge of previously elected to positions of power. Reads like a book of village idiots – Farry, Ogilvie, Peat, Taylor, Dallas, Regan, Doncaster et al….We need change & we need it NOW. REAL administrators who have some foresight, will work for the good of the game not short sighted morons who think only of self preservation.

There is a difference between giving an opinion and presenting it as fact.

Take note of the line, ‘All he has done is spell out the road the game COULD go down and what WILL happen’.

    See what he did there?

That’s the equivalent of an old whore giving you the clap

Not something I would know anything about Wullie, maybe you’re a more experienced chap than myself.

Regan must step down or be sacked…the head of the SFA and what he is basically saying is that Celtic & Sevco are necessary for the Scottish game to be in his own words “viable”, without them in the SPL/SFL1 the game in this country would face “financial meltdown”.

Already, they have engineered a vote to accept Sevco back into the SPL. This act alone has destroyed the integrity of the game here. Imagine now if Celtic next season had a stinker and ended up bottom of the SPL, what we would be looking at then is a vote of all clubs to see whether we could put Celtic straight back into the SPL????

Or put another way does anyone think the EPL would have a “vote” to put Man U back into the premiership if they played bad enough and finished in the bottom 3?…certainly not, they would just get on with it business as usual.

The point I am trying to make is that.
