First Division place for Sevco comes with transfer embargo

Scottish League newsIf Sevco are invited into the First Division of the SFL they’ll be handicapped by a transfer embargo.

The information was revealed in a 2000+ word statement from Stenhousemuir explaining why the Third Division club will vote to create a First Division place for Sevco.

Last season Rangers succesfully went to the Court of Session to challenge a 12 month transfer embargo with the SFA still to reconvene the panel to issue an appropriate punishment.

Whether a new club can be hit with a punishment for a club in liquidation remains a grey area but according to Stenhousemuir the transfer embargo would apply to the club given a First Division place.

Should Sevco be hit with a transfer embargo it’s hard to see how Ally McCoist could mount a promotion challenge with just six experienced players reporting back for pre-season training.

The Stenhousemuir statement read: “The meeting was then addressed by Stewart Regan. He set out the SFA position very clearly. As the governing body they considered that the punishment for Rangers Newco needed to be significant.

“The punishment they are proposing of relegation from the SPL, a one year transfer embargo, a significant fine and the related UEFA three year ban from Europe was fair and just. This did not include any subsequent punishments which may or may not be raised re the dual contracts enquiry.

“Due to the financial implications, the Scottish FA stated that they cannot allow Rangers Newco to be relegated to Division 3, given the likely ramifications for the game including a number of clubs either moving to administration and potentially subsequent liquidation as well as the impact on the playing standards etc which would emanate from reduced investment.

“Scottish Football would ‘wither on the vine’ and the Scottish FA could not, in their position, allow that to happen.

“The SFA stance is that Rangers Newco moving to Division 1 is absolutely the only decision to be made but that it must come with a resultant list of structural changes in the league set up.”

The SFL will meet on Friday July 13 to vote on whether to accept Sevco into their set up and at what level.

In the 80’s there were a few teams other than R*ngers (IL) who were doing well before they actually started cheating.

Why in the world would the SFA or anyone else want to keep a system that has created a weakened league?

    Idiots!

How can sevco be “relegated from the SPL?” They were never in the fecking SPL. Do none of these people running football actually understand what’s going on? Or can they just not bring themselves to accept that ragers are dead.

Plus, not that I’ve got any sympathy for them, but how are sevco going to compete in SFL 1 without buying more players? I think Regan, Ogilvie, Doncaster, and the other fool are not only biased, they must also all be sharing the same defective brain cell. Why else would they pick the stupidest, most unworkable option every time?

Time for Reagan to pack his bags…yet more threats / blackmail. How can SFL clubs survive for over 100 years without such a club while SPL clubs cannot last a season or three ??

Is he still basing all this hot air on a former club that when times were good got 50,000 crowds or the more recent – Last chance of success v Dundee Utd Scottish Cup tie with 17,000 in attendance.

How many will follow follow to Peterhead on a Wednesday or travel from all parts to Stranraer to see a bunch of has beens / youngsters struggling.

How much pressure are you already putting on match officials if things are tight at the top ???
An utter disgrace. Transfer embargo was not an option according to COS….so only a 12 month ban now available…..maybe be able to find new stadia by then after the BDO take back the assets.

  • Where does Regan get the idea that the SFA excluded the ‘proposed’ new club from the SPL. The decision had nout to do with the SFA. What sort of competence in running a club do imbeciles like the St. Johnstone chairman show when they can actually believe the utter bilge Regan and the rest are spewing out?

I believe it has nothing to do with truth. It is all part of very wide-ranging big fix that has probably been hatched for a very, very long time. I believe there will be practically no penalties for anyone. Rangers are gone and that makes it irrelevant.

The new club are not involved so they should not be penalised. However, if the new club want to be a continuation of the old club, well that’s fine by us. Ride on Billy Boy! Mr. Hutton hit the nail with a sledgehammer that still hasn’t dented some thick, hypocritical, bigoted skulls.

As for the authorities, they are simply a bunch of self interest seeking cheats and liars stirring up more mud in an already murky pool. These people do not give a two bit sh** about YOU and ME and all our fellow football fans.

They want and will have their way at any cost and to damn with supporters. We are the dirt they scuff from their shoes as they enter their secret enclaves at Hampden even though we are the very soul of the sport.

It really is time to rebel.

In the parallel universe that Regan and Doncaster inhabit Renagers have been banned from Europe for three years and relegated from the SPL. Pathological lying seems to be the only way forward right now for this pair of numbskulls

  • Joe says:

Regan is a massive disappointment. He must not resign. He must be treated the way he desrves. He, doncaster and ogilvie must be fired, not asked to resign. I honestly had faith in regan but what a disgrace he has been with his “save rangers at all costs” approach. These guys have all shown their true colours and they are red white and blue.

  • Joe says:

All gloating and kidding aside, the fact that there is still major indecision is a total disgrace and embarrassment to Scottish football.this didn’t just creep up on anyone!

In fairness while we all knew they were corrupt and being protected, so did the SFA. Why then are they still bungling trying to save a club who simply do not exist anymore?

The powers that be have put too much effort into allowing their corruption to continue that they actually contributed to this mess, and now because their agenda is still “save rangers” they have failed miserably in taking action.

The new sevco club can’t make plans until the SFA stop bungling. This isn’t rocket science! There isn’t another country in the word where this would happen.

Are the SFA hoping their continued scare-mongering will force everyone to buckle?

They are actually making rangers old co to be the victims! Go figure!

  • Scott Mackenzie says:

the rangers have already signed andrew mitchell a few days ago.

Although he was a rangers youth/reserve, he was officially a free agent at the end of lasy season, and he is 20 years old – so no longer a youth player nor a player they are allowed to sign under the transfer embargo rules.

Regardless regan and doncaster have made it clear they will do whatever they have to to get rangers into the 1st, bullying, threatening, blackmail etc they both must go.

As must celtic from this league if this is allowed to pass. I fear the worse about this.

  • All it will take is for the SFL chairmen to tell the SFL, SFA and George Peat’s Stenhousemuir to GTF. Vote newco into division 3 and a transfer embargo, tell the world they won’t get on the huns SPL2 rescue bus. What are they goingto do ? Invite highland league sides into SPL2 ?
The SPL are fcuked with Doncaster at the helm. Regan has shown no Skills, desire or ability to lead the SFA. Get rid of them. That will open the road to progress.
