SFA football newsWhen will the penny finally drop with Stewart Regan that Rangers are being liquidated?

Yesterday the chief executive of the SFA was warning anyone and everyone about the perilous state of the Scottish game if Rangers aren’t granted a place in the First Division of the SFL.

What Regan fails to acknowledge is that the Rangers that played in last season’s SPL will never be seen again.

The club that could field a team of internationalists, Scotland’s goalkeeper, the captains of Northern Ireland and the USA, Northern Ireland’s leading scorer and others such as Dorin Goian, Maurice Edu and Lee Wallace.

Ignoring the fact that Charles Green’s application for SFA membership hasn’t been heard yet the Yorkshireman faces a mass of problems before he can get round to thinking about what league Sevco will play in or whether they should play 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.

As Ally McCoist told a meeting of the RFFF last night he has six experienced players in pre-season training plus a handful of hopeful kids.

It’s not flippant to ask if McCoist could field a team and substitutes in a pre-season match.

The obvious answer is to sign players up but that’s mainly the reason that Rangers found themselves in administration then liquidation. No business is sustainable when it repeatedly outspends it’s income.

What income Green can anticipate is anyone’s guess. John Brown and some supporter groups have advised fans not to buy season tickets which are the lifeblood of every SPL clubs’ plans regardless of the influence of Sky and sponsors.

The departure of the club audi’s at the weekend highlighted that Green’s club have yet to announce a single sponsor.

Without season ticket sales or sponsors it’s hard to imagine how Green can fund the wages of Lee McCulloch and Neil Alexander never mind recruit a squad of players that can quickly become competitive against SFL opponents who’ll be playing competitive football in three weeks time.

The upkeep and maintenance of Ibrox and Murray Park looks like another millstone for any new club to maintain.

For five months the Scottish football authorities have washed their hands of the Rangers crisis, failing to show leadership or make difficult decisions.

If Regan thinks that creating a First Division place for Sevco will solve the matter he is badly mistaken. As well as alienating 90% of SFL supporters there are no guarantee’s about the viability of Sevco.

With no high street banks willing to provide facilities for Green’s club the alarm bells should be ringing throughout Hampden Park.

The majority of Rangers supporters want to see their new club begin life in the bottom division and live within their means hoping to work their way forward on merit.

Green has promised to provide a club that lives within their means avoiding the moonbeams of the men that drove Rangers into liquidation.

The sooner that Regan and the SFA wake up to the 2012 reality the better. The last thing that the Scottish game needs is a hamstrung Sevco in the First Division and facing the prospect of administration for living outwith their means.

  • One thing that puzzles me,how can a newco be placed into a league even if it is the 3rd division when the oldco hasn’t been liquidated fully yet?And may take many months for this to happen.

Effectively we have two companies running at the same time.

the penny has alrea dropped & embedded itself on the bk of his brass neck…..maybe rangers hav a plan to pay mr regan via some sorta EBT scheme (whatever they are?) when he finally hands in his resignation for all the great commercial work he has done for them over the past week or so.

Looks like Greens application for an SFA licence is a shoe in if Regans’ remarks are anything to go by.
This clown has to go. He’s an embarrassment to Scotland. If I was a Rangers* fan I’d be deeply offended by his suggestion that there will be civil unrest if Rangers* cease to exist.

The SPL & SFL clubs have got to stand up against the SFA & demand that Regan, Doncaster & Ogilvie stand down immediately. These men are not fit for purpose & are far worse for Scottish football than Rangers being in the SFL.

@Papua New Guinea CSC: The Newco is a different company. The Oldco’s membership has just been transferred to the Newco

That waste of skin cant comprehend that his beloved wifebeater fc no longer exists. What is he going to do? I think we can see that he is breaking his back to make sure benefitcheats fc gets in as close to the top as possible. What a sad pathetic waste of a pair of kidneys. He will have plenty of spare time soon enough to follow his team though, prick
