SPL Celtic newsDepending where you look this morning, 3, 4, 6 or 8 SPL clubs are about to step into the abyss later today.

According to the scare stories being put around Scotland is about to become the only nation in Europe that doesn’t have it’s football televised with sponsors pulling out left right and centre.

Rather than put in the research to find plans B, C and D it seems that Neil Doncaster can only paint a worst case scenario as SFL chairmen heard yesterday.

Strangely enough the Armageddon situation being painted was repeated as recently as in 2009!

A few months after signing a five year £149m deal for live SPL football Setanta UK went burst after overstretching themselves competing with Sky for Premiership football.

Once again the doom-mongers were out in force predicting the end of football as we know it with criticism heaped onto those that agreed the Setanta deal.

With less than three months to go to the start of the new season blank screens were predicted before a five year £80m deal was agreed with Sky and ESPN- somehow all of the SPL clubs survived despite a drop of £79m from their projections over a five year spell.

Since the Armageddon summer of 2009 Falkirk and Hamilton Accies have been relegated from the SPL and remarkably enough both remain in business.

Following relegation last season Dunfermline remain very much active and looking forward to a First Division campaign featuring local rivals Raith Rovers, Cowdenbeath and Falkirk as well as other attractive opponents in Livingston, Hamilton and Partick Thistle.

Sadly despite looking forward to a Champions League qualifier in four weeks time Stuart McCall can’t help but look on the dark side of life.

Picking up on the misinformation being spread about the effect of his former club the Motherwell boss claimed: “My fears are based on Rangers being in the Third Division.

“Everyone really has to know the reality of what’s going to happen.

“You can have all the integrity in the world but the rumour is half the SPL clubs might enter administration if it happens.”

Just like the demise of Setanta in 2009 Scottish football will survive the loss of Rangers whether or not Charles Green manages to cobble together an application for Sevco into the SFL.

Maybe McCall should ask his now defunct club for the £ 1m they cheated Motherwell out of by finishing 2nd in the table with illegally registered players or not paid for !!

SFL 1-2-3 has survived for many years without any real TV revenue. How many fans would return if they couldn’t see their favourites on TV ?

Call the bluff of SKY and see who blinks first, they have already lost their prime EPL games to BT unless they pay for them.

Plan for the future without TV revenue…push through more young talent, reduce the numbers of foreign players / agents for quality rather than quantity. Fans will get behind their teams in their hour of need or truly they don’t belong in the pro ranks anyway.

Doncaster, Regan & Ogilvie need to resign with immediate effect. Why? They have proven they are prepared to decimate the whole of Scottish professional football and tear up the rule books in order to facilitate a new un-registered club that claims to be Rangers only when HMRC are looking the other way.

They really need to read the Insolvency Act of 1986 to see that if Sevco are really old rangers in disguise, then Sevco are liable to pay all the oldco’s debts and Messrs Doncaster, Regan & Ogilvie are openly liable to arrest for legally aiding and abetting nothing short of a criminal offence.

It is ILLEGAL for a business to get rid of its debts by liquidating the company then metamorphosing into a debt free new company with ANY associations of the liquidated old company.

I think Messrs Doncaster, Regan & Ogilvie along with all the club chairmen need to get advice from a competent lawyer versed on the law regarding the insolvency of a business before any vote takes place. Ignorance is not an excuse!

went on to the scottish sun website this morning and couldn’t believe the amount of scare mongering thats going on. must be about 10 different articles on how scottish football is dead etc. They’re also in total denial that rangers are dead. they are called SEVCO!

  • Mark says:

The daily ranger is in full “the world will end because everybody hates newco/tesco”flow, Any other league in the world with a member club going into administration then liquidation would automatically start from the bottom again there would be no threats, scaremongering or votes. Scottish football is now a joke league in the eyes of the world. A cant for the life of me remember this clamor to save celtic in 1994 when it looked as if we could go bust, the only people that stood up where us the fans. Hail hail

  • JohnP says:

They were too busy hiring hearses and sending wreaths to write stories about how Scottish football would end without Celtic. Remember in 1994 Celtic were an irrelevance. No trophies for 5 years, stadium falling down and the all-conquering Gers were slapping down tenners for fivers and building two teams, one for Scotland, one to become European champions.
Davie Moonbeams was slaugherting baby sheep by the flock to keep no-marks like Jabba pumping out utter Lilian Gish to this effect. However, we know what was really happening. Moonbeams had no money and the whole castle was built on sand. Hence, the sorry shambles we are in the middle of today.
But some other tosser called Murray apologised yesterday. So let by-gones be by-gones and keep calm and carry on. What a joke.

  • seaney67 says:

Sands1888. Spot on.His.mask has well and truly slipped. The best place to hide corruption is in plain sight.or a press interview.as for the fat paul le guen.it’s not all about integratiy sally . Its a question of sport. The gimp probably cheated on that as well.
