Malcolm MurraySevco chairman Malcolm Murray is delighted that the SFA have struck a deal to transfer the membership of Rangers.

Despite not having any audited accounts or publishing the names of their backers Sevco are set to become members of the SFA next week.

Rangers are currently being liquidated with over £3m owed to football clubs but that won’t prevent Sevco from signing up new players for the campaign ahead.

Former SPL players such as Gary Teale, Ian Black, Craig Beattie, Steven Craigan and Dean Shields are on Ally McCoist’s wanted list alongwith former Rangers players such as Bob Malcolm, Maurice Ross and Paul Gascoigne.

The SFA stated last night that they expected the deal to go through next week with Murray admitting that Sevco have no option but to sign up to start playing football.

“The choice is stark – take sanctions or risk not playing football at all,” the Sevco chairman admitted. “We do not wish to gamble with the Club’s future so, under duress, we have taken the difficult decision to accept some sanctions in order to move forward.

“A delayed transfer ban would be a bitter pill to swallow and will only be agreed to if the alternative is no football.

“We would have a window in which to sign players enabling the manager to strengthen the squad which is critical for the Club to start the process of rebuilding.

“We also regret that any agreement with the SFA appears not to have the support of the SPL and, as such, it still wishes to impose further sanctions on the Club for the actions of previous regimes despite already voting us out of its league.

“This is truly astounding to everyone at the Club who is now in charge of rebuilding Rangers from Division 3, particularly as the SPL are still trying to benefit from our media rights.

“Whilst we are deeply frustrated that the Club and the new owners will have to accept some punishments for the sins of previous regimes, we are at the point where we have to move forward and get back playing football.”

The SPL have still to issue their findings into claims that Rangers players received undeclared payments which could result in titles being removed in players not properly registered were used.

When this whole thing started, I only wanted the Oldco punished. I wanted them to admit they’d cheated, to pay back the money they owed, and to lose their tainted titles.

Now, after all the lying and snivelling and threatning and cheating and manipulating, I want the Law, HMRC, UEFA, and FIFA to crush both The Oldco and the Newco into dust. I wish they’d both do the decent thing and die.

Take the tainted titles back, Rangers are no more. Newco in division 3 no more punishment let them get on with trying to get out div 3 something I think will not be as easy as they think and we don’t know who if anyone is backing them plus fat man in charge of newco is not a manager so I can see newco going bust within a year. It is time for us decent fans to keep our integrity and to support our clubs and rebuild Scottish football the right way. Yes we need restructure and we need to start by changing the secret handshake people who are in charge of our game. Oldco are history that is enough punishment and newco will struggle what more do we want?

Hail Hail and god bless all who do right……..

I agree wholeheartedly that we must concentrate on our own club as should all football supporters, especially as the new season is about to start. However, the issue, for me at least, is not ‘oldco’, ‘newco’ or ‘three bags full co’.

The far greater issue is the governance of Scottish football. This is integral to the future of not just the survival of the whole of Scottish football but the progress and development of Celtic. The principles at stake are beyond our own ‘selfish’ ambitions. They affect Scottish football universally and without the proper resolutions, the game in this country will not survive.

We can not ignore the issues at old Rangers and ‘newco rangers’ and most certainly not the actions of the S.F.A. and the Scottish leagues in relation to them. They directly impact on all of Scottish football. Ethics, justice and integrity are above any individual aspirations and must be safeguarded at all costs.

Those currently in the headlines, old and new, clubs and authorities, continue to tarnish the purity of these principles that are essential for equality and fairness. There is no justifiable reason for Celtic and other supporters not to carry on the fight for right and proper conclusions as part of the overall reform so desperately required at individual clubs and in Scottish football in general.

We can not simply ignore what is going on and relegate it to history. It needs resolved because it will influence the future. This does not mean that a NEW CLUB should not come into existence and have a fresh start and opportunities like any other. But it must be a NEW club, starting its existence through the proper processes, not through manipulation or manufactured and spurious means.

A clean break and a fresh start are central to the survival of a new club and the honour of Scottish football.

Murray makes a whole lot of sense to me, why should Newco have to suffer punishments of Oldco. I agree with Murray Newco should not be responsible for Oldcos sins.
They should not be allowed to use Oldcos history to gain entry to any league.
They should be treated like any other group of people and made apply for entry.
Honestly you bend over backwards to help these people and still they complain they are treated unfairly.

Publicly they should be told in no uncertain terms, the only way you gain entry to our leagues is accept sanctions or feck off, if they’re not happy the alternative is die, personally I hope the choose the alternative.

Looks very likely that the SFA and SPL will do a deal to drop the investigation into the dual contracts for media rights. A fighting fund should be started to accept donations which would pay for legal action against the SPL and SFA to force them to apply the rules as they stood at the time of the dual contracts.

Rangers want the investigation stopped but the courts could be used to force the SPL and SFA to apply the rules if they agree to this. The Ex-Rangers FC fans aren’t the only ones who have a right to get the courts to demand the footballing authorities apply the rules they have or had at the time of the offences.

Can anyone look into this ?
