Desperate Murray accuses SFA and SPL

|

David Murray Rangers ownerDavid Murray has attempted to drag the compliant SFA and SPL into the Rangers dual contract crisis.

For over a decade the governing bodies were happy to provide the Ibrox side with a licence to play in Europe and a financial clean bill of health.

Murray broke his silence yesterday to protest about the possibility of the SPL stripping the club of titles for fielding incorrectly registered players and goes further today in an interview with The Sun.

After almost two years biting his tongue the old anger is back as the former Ibrox owner blames anyone and everyone except himself for the collapse of the club that he promised to sell to a Rangers fan capable of taking the club forward.

“If they’re going to say Rangers are culpable, why are the SFA not culpable?” Murray asked. “Or the SPL?

“For ten years they approved the accounts and allowed Rangers to enter Europe. They also allowed players to play for their country.”

“When Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United were supposedly using EBTs — and I use the word supposedly — there is no doubt that one or two of them won championships in that time.

“But why did Aston Villa or Newcastle not ask for those titles to be stripped away? It’s the tribalism of Scotland.

“Everyone wants to give Rangers a kick on the way down, but I think they’re doing it far too much now.

“What will happen in this one-horse race is that, by February, it’ll become hard to maintain the momentum of people watching the game.”

For seven months Murray was it talks with Craig Whyte as the asking price dropped from £30m to £1.

Despite no evidence of Whyte’s alleged wealth Scotland’s greatest ever businessman was duped into the sale with disastrous consequences.

Within nine months of taking charge Whyte put Rangers into administration with the liquidation process starting 15 months after the £1 sale.

Murray has remained largely silent as he’s looked on at the damage done to the club but refuses to accept any blame for the current position of the club.

“I don’t want to keep repeating myself but I sold the club to the wrong person,” he claimed.

“Everybody found out several months later that was the case. Where I get a bit annoyed is when they say I should have known but Whyte’s name was out there in the public domain for seven months before he bought the club.

“I used the word ‘duped’, but he did pay the money. It was just nobody knew where that money was coming from.

“Everyone can be smart after the event. Had I known about Ticketus, I categorically couldn’t have done what I did.

“Talking with hindsight sounds pathetic in many ways, which it’s not meant to.

“I just hope a sense of realism comes back into Scottish football and we can all move on, playing football again.”

More lies Minty….How could Crook Whyte get the ticketus money without being the owner – They HAD to get approval from YOU.

Time to stop digging an even bigger hole and just hold up your hands and admit your guilt.

No-one has said EBT’s are illegal, just the way you implemented them as the guy who invented the system told you from day one and you chose to ignore.

  • paranoidandroid says:

I agree with you completely Sir Mintoes; you do sound pathetic:

(If proven)You cheated every football supporter in Scotland and some in Europe. And if Scottish football goes down the toilet, it’s down to you and anyone in the MSM, SFA, or SPL that turned a blind eye to help you.

  • The sfa/spl granted them a license based on what documents they received frm ipox, if Murray and Co hid second contracts like it looks like they did then Murray DUPED the sfa/spl, the man could and should be stripped ov his pathetic knighthood and placed in prison… Hail hail, HERE WE GO 20INA ROW

  • murray balmes the spl/sfa
rankers fans blame peter lawwell/neil lennon
fat ally blames anybody but himself
IT WAS RANGERS WHO CAUSED THE PROBLEM NO ONE ELSE YOU CHEATED GOT CAUGHT NOW TAKE WHATS COMING.
    hail hail

Funny how everyone will lose interest in a “one horse race” in the SPL, but not division 3.
Murray, all spin and accusations no facts.

  • Alan in Thailand says:

    Well said Ciaran.

To expand on that point, wasn’t Murray obsessively trying to create a “one horse race” when Rank-gers were wallowing in the glory of their “9-in-a-row” years?

Weren’t their “fans”, as well as the fawning laptop loyal, wallowing in this one horse race as they attempted to grind Celtic into the dust?
“For ever fiver Celtic spend…” and all that.

Strange how they’re all so concerned about the supposed lack of competition now it’s Celtic who are at the top (after years of suffering n the shadows of these cretins)!!!

It looks like Minty still has one or two meedja puppets who still enjoy the succulent drippings from ‘the top table’ and give him press. Wouldn’t it be better for this ego maniac windbag to slink off into history just like his former club? We’ve all heard enough slanted tripe from Mr Moonbeams, so disappear and concentrate on rebuilding your metals empire. I saw an old bed frame today if that helps…

  • Stevie says:

Minty’s just mudding the waters. Never done anything wrong jail time for you hopefully.

  • Helsingbhoy says:

The arrogance of the man is staggering. The same arrogance, by the way (I shouldn’t have to remind anyone of the ‘for every £5 Celtic spend…’), that led Rangers to the Third Division and financial disaster.

Let’s put aside the EBT crap for a minute – it’s still Murray’s fault. It happened on his watch and then he sold the club to a man of such questionable business practices that he simply caused more damage.

Anyway, who gives a crap? They’re nowhere. But the obsession runs deep I guess, I went on a Rankers forum today just to see what they were saying about the Helsinki game…it’s good and funny stuff and I strongly urge those of you who want a laugh to do the same.

    GIRUT

    Hail Hail
