Helsingborg fan gives his Celtic view

While researching Helsingborgs IF I came across a few of their fanzines on the web, so I attempted to reach out to a few of their fans to answer some questions on the upcoming games. I only got the one response this time from Fredrik but his answers echo what the majority of HIF fans think on their sites.

I have been reading the HIF websites and it seems that your fans are happy in drawing Celtic. Is this really the case?

Yes, I think Celtic is what we wanted. We know Celtic are a big team but they have not been as important in Europe recently. Anderlecht, Basel, Bate and Dinamo have been in the group stages and last year Malmo beat Rangers and then were beaten by Dinamo Zagreb. Celtic also has a famous support and of course Henke so we want them for that reason too.

HIF had a good win in the last round beating Slasc Warsaw home and away. Was this surprising?

Not surprising that we won but surprising that we won easy. We are in great form recently, best in Sweden since Age Hareide became manager for the second time. I thought it would be a tough game but we played very well.

Who is your best player?

It would have been Alfred Finnbogsson but he is gone now. For me it is Par Hansson the Goal Keeper. Very talented and was picked by Sweden for the Euro 12. He is always making good saves and will need to be at his best against Celtic.

Who of the current Celtic team do you think will cause you most trouble?

I do not know many of the current Celtic players. Samaras was at the Euro 12 and I only know Lustig and Bangura. I watch highlights of HJK games and think Samaras would be of concern for Age.

While researching our upcoming games I found this statement about Alvaro Santos, “Many fans actually rank him higher than Henrik Larsson, and in Helsingborg, Santos is nicknamed “God”^“  Is this correct?

This depends on who you ask. Most younger fans did not see Henke play for HIF during his first time. Santos is called God and is adored by the fans and is a good guy. Henke is more famous and respected in Sweden and he is also adored by HIF fans. For me I rank Henke the best.

So who is going to win and qualify for the Champions’ League group stages?

Celtic will be favourites, but if we play the way we have been we could win it. Losing Finnbogsson will hurt us and I do not see us winning in Scotland when we did not win in Wales so we have to win the first game. HIF on penalties.
