Kirk Broadfoot Rangers news

Charles Green has given Kirk Broadfoot a free transfer.

The international defender was one of the few Rangers first team players who agreed to TUPE his contract over to Sevco but has now been told to leave the club.

Despite Ally McCoist’s plea to bring in new faces before a transfer ban is imposed Green has decided to free the most experienced defender at the club alerting teams throughout Europe to Broadfoot’s availability.

McCoist admitted: “Kirk has agreed with Charles and the club that his contract will be null and void and that he will be free to leave the club as of today or tomorrow.

There’s still one or two issues still to be tidied up there but it looks like Kirk will be leaving the club and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his service to the club.”

Maurice Edu is also on his way out of Ibrox but with Sevco looking for a transfer fee Stoke City are likely to sit it out till Friday in the hope of getting the midfielder for free.

McCoist added: “As for Mo my reading of the situation is that he is requiring international clearance to go to Stoke.

That is how close we are to that one going through.

But Carlos  (Bocanegra) is still very much a Rangers player, there’s been no activity or movement or change in the situation regarding Carlos.

So he’ll hopefully be involved in our next few games and he will be here post window. That’s where we are with Carlos and the longer it goes the more chance there is he will stay.”

Broadfoot will have to negotiate a lump sum for tearing up his contract. I’d expect Edu to walk away as well as Bocanegra. Sevco can only sign 22 players over 21 years of age while in the SFL, currently have 21 so need to move on some of the experienced / high wage earners.

Great news that Sally is a shareholder, much less chance of him getting his jotters….clearly out of his depth but sells tickets….I doubt his popularity will save him, unless the entire club goes under first again (Which I think it will)

Anyone wondering why a free transfer and not even 100,000? I presume his contract has been ripped up then. Maybe while he’s searching for a club he can practice his throw ins. The whole ball has to be begin your head you moron!

I can see the Napoli manager getting his man now, but I don’t know if they could match the wages at PSG or Malaga. When will this saga end? My money is on PSG cause Broadfoot is a natural french speaker.
